The average adult human body contains ≈ 5 litres of blood. During late pregnancy, blood flow to the uterus increases to 600 mL per minute. If bleeding from the uterus occurs after delivery (postpartum haemorrhage), the body’s entire blood can drain out within 10 minutes. This leaves obstetricians with very little time to intervene and stop the bleeding. They therefore act immediately by inserting a fist into the vagina to compress the uterus and stop the bleeding. Otherwise, the mother may bleed to death within minutes. Although other treatment modalities are available, manual manipulation of the uterus remains one of the fastest life-saving interventions.

Unpopular opinion: I don’t think anyone is touching @BiodunStephenO when it comes to YouTube storytelling right now. Her style is just different. It’s not the usual love-driven plots everybody keeps recycling… there’s always depth, something to reflect on, something to learn. No disrespect to other producers at all, because the work they’re putting in is serious. But personally, I find myself actually looking forward to whatever she drops next. Maybe I’m biased… but her storytelling just hits different.

Woke up this morning extremely weak, tired and pale after having had chemo last week. So I showed up in the hospital for a blood test and transfusion. I’ve reached out to contacts here in Calabar for a donor but if you’re in Calabar, 0+ and willing to donate please reach out.
Avril Amaka@avrilamaka

Thinking of my friend @jaybrizzy today, and always, but especially today as he’s having a rough time. Sending him so much strength and love from everyone who cares about him, on here and off this app. He's a believer so if you pray please send some big prayers his way. 🙏🏼 Jay, you are stronger than this moment, even when it doesn’t feel like it. You are deeply loved, not alone, and so many people are standing with you. Love ya lots. We got this. Please keep him in your thoughts. ❤️

Valid point @ "And many times, these gifts were thoughtfully curated items intended to help reduce the financial burden of planning the wedding." However, these days, people often show up empty-handed because they have already been compelled to contribute in one form or another before the wedding. Couples should plan weddings within their means and not rely on gifts from others or place undue pressure on guests. Those who come to celebrate with you should not be made to feel obligated to fund the event.

As we fight for bringing back liver in fried rice let’s also push for bringing back gifting newlyweds on their wedding day. You go for weddings and no one is carrying any gifts anymore. And many times, these gifts were thoughtfully curated items to help reduce the financial burden of planning the wedding.

Maybe this is contrarian, but in this case I'm team Kim. My understanding is that Kim is actually a *very* hard worker between all her pursuits. She has multiple billion dollar fashion brands, dozens of endorsement deals, her reality tv shows, scripted acting, and her clemency activism. You cannot do everything she does, with the level of success she's attained, without working hard. What's happening is that she's running into something she's just not well suited for. She's very well-suited to the grind of doing hundreds of appearances, endorsements, photoshoots, etc, every year, which is real work. But she didn't go to law school or even college. She's never done anything like this, and it requires a totally different skill set, and because she's doing a dozen other major things she's time-limited. So she's currently failing. And yet it's heroic of her to try. She's done real good with her activism for criminal justice reform. She's gotten people out of unjust life sentences. It's more than most of her critics have ever done for anyone. Good for her for doing it, and good for her for trying something hard. We should celebrate people who are willing to try genuinely hard things because they want to make the world a better place, and if you're mocking her there's a chance you're just a terrible person.

🔥🚨DEVELOPING: Kim Kardashian broke down in tears as she expressed how hard and stressful her life has been while trying to pass the BAR exam which she recently failed. Kardashian: “I am so tired… A part of me wants to give up. I feel like my brain is going to explode, and I still have to study much more.”

One of my worst fears in Nigeria is someone being kidnapped. The reason I fear kidnapping so much is that “asking for ransom” — as badly as it sounds — is the best possible outcome, except they just let you go. There are a lot more worse things that could happen. - You could be repeatedly raped all year round. - Someone could turn you into an object of their fetish desires. - You could be slowly killed, harvesting different parts of your body at a time. - You could be turned into a baby factory, getting impregnated every 9 months while selling off your babies - You could be sold into modern slavery - You could be killed to make a point. Anything. Anything could happen to you without asking for money—and you have zero power. Zero. Imagine what those young girls are going through now. Just try to imagine it. And in this country, you cannot be hopeful there’s help coming for you. Crazy.

Even after leaving Nigeria, you cannot be at peace. I’m scared for my family every single day. I was born in the North, survived two sharias. I’ve seen it all. My mom and sister are still in the North. The south where my father is, is a ticking time bomb. What can we actually do? What is the real solution to this madness?
