Happy Thanksgiving from our fire house to yours!!

A wise officer once told me to consider sweating the small stuff at times; not addressing the small stuff can lead to big & bad things! The key is balance; not overreacting or micromanaging & not being so naive that you miss the warning signs of a tragedy in the making!

We shouldn’t hire resumes. Instead we should hire people with solid character traits; those who are a good fit for our family & community & those we can get along with. We can teach many to throw ladders or pull hose, but we can teach few to be nice or play nicely in the sandbox.

Company officers MUST train, drill, encourage, motivate, nurture, teach, and protect their crew everyday. It’s the toughest job in the fire service, and the most important.
