@henrywinter Sorry Henry I disagree. The only option is full abolition. The paying fans do not want it and that is overwhelmingly evident. Time for football to listen to their customers and get rid. No tweaking or scaling back, full abolition.

At some point, they will have to play the audio of the decision-making process live, the communication between referee and VAR. IFAB against, though. But why shouldn’t match-goers - who fund the game - and viewers - who fund the game - know exactly what’s going on in the game? It would increase transparency for a start. It would engage fans (maybe enrage) rather than keeping them fiddling their thumbs, impatient for a decision. It works in rugby union (TMO) and cricket (DRS) - admittedly sports with different rhythms and volatility in responses. It might put additional pressure on officials, but it’s a mess currently and fans deserve a more transparent process.

@jj_bull Knockouts always bring more excitement. The more a team is desperate to win, the more risks they take, the less tactics they employ and the more fun the game is.

I think one of the reasons the European games are so much fun is players actually trying things, relying on first touch and skill, thinking creatively. And cos both teams are doing that, instead of taking away all the risk, stuff happens

@SpursOfficial you’ve removed a long-standing season ticket holder from the Automatic Cup Scheme and stripped his loyalty points over a single failed card payment — an expiry date, not insufficient funds. @THSTOfficial 1/4

@henrywinter Respectfully, what are you on about! He should have gone in November, it’s too late now Henry we are down. The players don’t play for the manager and have given up. We should have twisted months back and now it may be too late.

Stick or twist? What a decision the Spurs hierarchy have to make about Thomas Frank. 1, stick with Frank? Out of a desire to resist more managerial churn, noting progress in the Champions League, acknowledging the debilitating injury list (11/12), players not taking individual responsibility, including the captain. And who could come in of sufficient stature at short notice? Pochettino after the World Cup, possibly, dream return, but who for now? De Zerbi for the rest of the season? Heitinga? And would you want their first game to be against the best team in Europe? Feb 22, Arsenal visiting. Or, 2, twist and remove Frank? Why? No wins in the Premier League in 2026. On the slide, lifeless domestically, first half against Newcastle a disgrace. Frank looks bereft of ideas. He’s not convincing in the press conference or technical area. He doesn’t seem to grasp the size of Spurs as a club – history, stadium, training ground - and the fans’ expectations, not about results, but about style. To dare is to do. Not to sit back and hope. Spurs fans want to be entertained – especially with the price they are paying for tickets. The match-going fans have turned against Frank, and that support is difficult to win back. Fans also been protesting against owners, so easier to sacrifice head coach. Financial ramifications: Spurs cannot risk relegation. They cannot tolerate being so low down the table anyway - every place alone is worth £2.7m. So which? Looking at the body language of the players and Frank, the board should act now. They can’t risk 11 days of a toxic build-up to the North London Derby deepening the divide between fans and Frank, a decent man but out of his depth at Spurs, and (many) fans and board. If Frank’s team then get taken apart at home by their loathed neighbours with visiting fans in triumphant voice the atmosphere will turn even uglier. A caretaker, even a coach like Heitinga stepping up, would lift some of the gloom. The logical, clinical decision is to put Frank out of his misery. A decent man and manager, but he's struggling. It just hasn't worked out and there's fault on both sides. Whenever they make their decision on Frank, Spurs board has to acknowledge the club’s responsibility over recruitment, especially with lack of leadership qualities in the players recruited (tbf Gallagher tries). Spurs need stronger leaders on the pitch and in the dugout. #THFC

@JamesAr68230602 @Flav_Bateman Wrong, Haaland is found first but because the ball is going in advantage is played. The advantage leads to a goal so the fouls are irrelevant.

@Flav_Bateman Objectively the right outcome. Can’t allow the goal because of Haalands foul which means you have to give a red for szobozslais foul.

@henrywinter The laws of today it’s a red but the laws are all wrong and have been out in place by people who haven’t ever played football. With decisions like this being a red card and VAR it’s no wonder so many have lost the love for this sport

More pressure on Thomas Frank. But how can he be responsible for Romero banned for 4 games for a bad challenge (amazingly, some people arguing it wasn’t a red) and Udogie limping off with another injury? Frank without Maddison, Kulusevski, Kudus, Porro, Richarlison, Bentancur, Davies, Spence and Danso. 100 injuries across PL clubs atm, and Spurs especially badly hit. #TOTMUN #THFC

@henrywinter @peterpecker11 Respectfully Henry, even a change to it isn’t worth it. Scrap it completely, accept we don’t live in a perfect world and there will be mistakes. What VAR has taken from our game is not worth even the most blatant errors being corrected. Let us enjoy goals being scored again.
