A perfect example of why increased density around existing transport nodes, rather than yet more urban sprawl far away from it, is the way Sydney must grow. Bet they wish they’d stayed in their Epping apartment. smh.com.au/national/nsw/t…

@123itsmeMary yep these kids don't know the "extraordinary" because they've spent all their brain power learning to code and doing organic chemistry

@Y40IFRQTTING The film happens around 1511. There were still great Maya cities at the time. Not as great as before but still large and developed even to European standards

@taipan168 Especially as an Australian, the sense of scale is jaw dropping and there's nothing even close to it in Aus that being said, I like Osaka better

Tokyo isn’t just the best city in Asia, it is amongst the best cities in the world, up there with London and Tokyo. You can visit 100 times and still find something new and interesting. smh.com.au/traveller/insp…

The number of white male American sprinters competing in the Olympics 100 meters event has been zero in the last 66 years, offering a warning about what can happen if you just let people compete fairly on a level playing field.

The number of Black American players in Major League Baseball has plummeted to just 6%, offering a warning about what can happen when institutions de-emphasize diversity. More on our #ReidOutBlog: trib.al/zfSzdF7

@prettyusefulUI you sound like a pussyhole, complaining all day online about the state of things — why don’t you log off and go change the system you hate instead of pussyfooting around commenting on tweets. You’re not a man, just some internet mouse.

We might need to have a serious conversation about the amount of Australians in London now 💀 why are there so many!? They’re never in the immigration conversations!

Here’s my completely nuanced take on whether or not the tax breaks for PNG are fair or not: No amount of money will ever convince someone to live in a country they don’t want to live in.

Parking outside your house isn't a "basic right" and using the Bondi massacre to justify your opposition to bike lanes is just plain offensive.

@taipan168 Agreed. Just because you own a house does not mean you have the rights to infinite taxpayer funded carparks on your street. Using those who died in Bondi is disgusting - once a generation event. Not to mention, those 26 police cars were less effective than an old man

Not trying to dunk here but Australia is more like 15% Asian. If you inhabit some suburbs or social settings then sure it might seem like 50% plus. You can see how some far right people think Asians are fully taking over.

kind of funny to me when someone who isn't australian asks me what aussie food is because our population is like, 50%+ asian people, we all just eat asian food tbh 😭😭😭 (or gyg lol) the most "australian" thing I eat is probably... vanilla slice or something

@CassiaMaw @Readyfor_Freddy @Halalcoholism By that logic basically Indians and Chinese are free to move basically everywhere. There's more chinese than there is white people, they have communities everywhere. Palestine is 13% Jewish, is it defensible for Israel to flood Palestine with settlers therefore?

@CassiaMaw @Readyfor_Freddy @Halalcoholism Well the universities have shown where their priorities lie so fuck them. We can still have international students, I really don't care, it just shouldn't factor into PR and we need to stop them from working illegally, and provide adequate housing

@BenInnocent08 @Readyfor_Freddy @Halalcoholism 2.9 still makes it one of our largest industries. Universities are ruined because they are business first without punishments or benefits to veer them off course. As international students realise this and stop coming that finical pressure falls back onto national students.

@BenInnocent08 @Readyfor_Freddy @Halalcoholism They were concentrated in a few communities, not spread out. 30000 was also a significant number relative to the overall population at the time. They made immigrating and living in Australia in the future easier regardless of their size.

@BenInnocent08 @Readyfor_Freddy @Halalcoholism It very much is, if either the US or China (more so China) decided to cut us off tomorrow we would collapse the same day. It’s that way for most of the world. Our service economy especially is geared towards China so Australia would suffer more than many others.

@CassiaMaw @Readyfor_Freddy @Halalcoholism So they can price out real Australians? We have a housing crisis and we keep importing people The 'established communities' is so overrated, there was less than 30,000 chinese people in Australia at federation

@BenInnocent08 @Readyfor_Freddy @Halalcoholism Because they have larger populations and have larger elite classes which can afford to come to and live in Australia. You also have Pre established communities in the case of the Chinese thanks to the gold rush which makes living in Australia more viable.
