@AlfieHouseEcho Sadly @AlfieHouseEcho SR have proven they are incapable of committing to “doing everything right from here”. Their tenure has been an absolute disaster and every embarrassing part of it due to their decision making in the running of our club. Like monkeys with a gun.

Final immediate thoughts from me is that there are lots of good people at the club who I am certain, with help, can get it back on the right path. No denying this is a huge setback but simply have to focus on doing everything from here, the right way, to make success. #SaintsFC

The EFL haven’t just punished us; they’ve ruined us. In addition to losing half our team, we’ll be sued for many, many millions by players, sponsors & rival teams. We’re essentially facing years of decline and pain on and off the pitch. Thats why this is disproportionate.

Mention of Wembley refunds but what about the two semis. Fans spent hard earned cash on one or both pointless matches. £1m revenue generated from semi final home leg ticket sales… Every penny should be given back to those who went to either game.

#Boro fans moaning about being cheated out of a final are now moaning about coach prices to a £200m game they shouldn’t even be in. Is there no end to their tears? I know Middlesbrough is a shit hole but didn’t realise it made you this miserable.

Fans preaching their disgust, Tonda must go, the club are a disgrace etc. You knew what we did 2 weeks ago so why is the punishment now dictating your opinion on it? If we were hit with £10m and 6 points so one would be asking for the club the be ripped apart.

You can only imagine there must’ve been a meeting recently between the Sports Republic hierarchy whether they discussed how it had been too long since they’d made a reckless decision that would alienate the entire fan base. #saintsfc

If any players cheats on Saturday… dive, fake injury, time wasting, deliberate handball etc, should we expect the result to be immediately awarded to the other team @EFL?

If we lose Tonda Eckert, that will be the worst of the fallout here. We’ve seen how difficult it is to find a great manager after a long line of terrible ones. Keeping him a the priority but I fear potential (and probable) involvement will mean there is more bad news to come.

@SkyNews It’s totally disproportionate to the crime. £130 million fine essentially + a points deduction. How can that be deemed appropriate. Cheating happens every week on the football pitch so the EFL have just set a very dangerous precedent.

Southampton kicked out of Championship play-off final for spying. Correct decision, especially as it transpires they spied on three clubs in total. This is about more than a bloke standing behind a tree with an iPhone. It’s about how seriously the game should take cheating. EFL independent disciplinary commission have struck a blow for fair play, for integrity, for the need for respect between clubs, for coaches to have an expectation of privacy in training. 25% of goals scored in the Championship this season were from set-pieces. Clubs practised them. Understandably, coaches don’t want their plans revealed. EFL sending a strong message with this punishment.  Spygate 2 different from Spygate 1. Rules tightened and punishments introduced since Leeds United’s offence. Appeals, of course. It’s tough for Southampton fans to be denied the trip to Wembley and the chance of a return to the Premier League. It’s particularly tough that many have forked out for tickets, travel and accommodation. Their frustration and anger should be directed at their club. Southampton should recompense fans. It’s not the fans’ fault.  The stupidity in all this is that Southampton would probably have beaten Boro anyway. Better team, stronger bench. But this is so damning… “Southampton admitted breaches of Regulations requiring Clubs to act with the utmost good faith and prohibiting the observation of another Club’s training session within 72 hours of a scheduled match,” says EFL. “The admitted breaches concern fixtures against Oxford United in December 2025, Ipswich Town in April 2026 and Middlesbrough in May 2026.” So the punishment is proportionate. It should act as a deterrent. Honesty matters.

@Boro @DanBadminton Hellberg must be rubbing his hands that you’re not focused on the real issue of his team failing to win 8 of their final 10 league matches. Embarassing.
