@Luke_Elvy Luke admit that Astroturfing a sport league never works. LIV is the same as the USFL or the WHL. It tried to come into an established market and failed at every turn because it never played to a core fan group. LIV had a lot of ideas but no substance much like your commentary.

The problem was the PGAT wanted to keep total control. Once it was lost they got aggressive with the smear campaign to destroy any chance it had of succeeding. They did a LOT of damage to LIVs reputation in the U.S. But internationals like LIV because it broke PGATs stronghold.
Mr Negative@MrNegative33

Never understood the PGAT reaction to LIV. There’s 52 weeks in a yr. 4 taken up by the majors, let’s say 4 weeks off. LIV takes up 14. That leaves 30 other weeks, plenty of time for other tournaments. WTF is the problem?

An overhaul of a prior golf course, Ian Andrew & Mike Weir’s Blue course at Laval-sur-le-Lac is one of the more impressive transformations in not just Canada, but North America.

@SHistorians @21golfclub Nope, just think it’s poor wording on your part. Also confusing name but considering the legal issues around the use of the El Boqueron plan. Makes some sense.

@BenMalach @21golfclub It’s called the MACKENZIE!!!!!!!!!!! Hence “MacKenzie’s Greens!!!!!!!” It’s an interpretation of El Boqueron that uses MacKenzie’s green details within MacKenzie’s plans. It’s an homage. I feel like you realize you are wrong but are trying to find a work around.

@SHistorians @21golfclub You just did my guy, if they are Mackenzie greens then Mackenzie designed the course. Gonna ask when did you scan the never built greens at El Boq? My point still stands it’s hard for the greens to be Mackenzie without the man.

Nobody is saying Dr. Alister MacKenzie designed the course!!!!!!! The course is an homage to MacKenzie’s El Boqueron. The course is called “The MacKenzie.” Please educate yourself before you judge. Again you are completely overreacting. MacKenzie’s green at Sitwell is also a beauty.

@SHistorians @21golfclub How can something be of someone if they never saw or approved it? Also wasn’t there interpretation of the concepts on to the topography? I can give you inspired or even interpretations of mackenzie greens, i think it’s very clearly factually incorrect to say they are his.

@garrett_TFE TBH if Chevron had vision they would pay Tom to build his purpose built LPGA course that he has wanted to build for a couple decades. They get a platinum asset and the LPGA gets a proper standing major event.

3 hour episode! I thought about breaking it into multiple episodes but thought it worked too well as one long conversation with lots of threads that pull through the entire 3 hours. Enjoy the first @fried_egg_golf pod of the year.

The Yolk with Doak is back! In a wide-ranging, three-hour conversation, @AndyTFE and Tom discuss his social media hiatus, how Instagram has impacted his career as a golf course architect, and some of his recent work at Wild Spring Dunes, Childress Hall, and more.

@drewharvie PD and CK was the land, not Doak. RCC is average, at best. > Long Point, Black Diamond, the old World Woods, Caves Valley, Jupt Hills (with Uncle George), etc. It’s not even a legitimate contest….

@mikeclaytongolf @GCIMagazineGuy @TheAddingtonGC Modern writers seek binary answers to non binary questions. What is good and responsible in one location is malpractice in another. It’s one of the reasons why I believe the over reliance on 2-4 firms globally is dangerous for the game.

@GCIMagazineGuy I don’t think any architect-past or present-denounced trees. They denounced the misuse of them.Wrong species.Too many. Poorly placed-hurting both turf & architecture. Hazards in the air v hazards on the ground with the latter being preferable One example 16 @TheAddingtonGC

@KVanValkenburg May I ask what the evidence is that the Trump Organization will profit from this? I’ve heard this repeated but haven’t found any evidence online

This hasn't resonated yet outside golf, but what this administration is essentially doing is taking over a national park for invented reasons so that the Trump Organization can run it and profit from it. Imagine if Yellowstone suddenly cost $1,000 but mostly served lobbyists.
National Links Trust@links_national

We are devastated to report that the Trump administration is officially terminating our 50-year lease with the National Park Service to manage and renovate the three courses. The termination is effective immediately.  Read more: washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/12…

@KVanValkenburg This was always my issue. It’s a clear case of corruption, but sadly we are in an era where congress doesn’t want to do its job.

If you don't care about golf, that's fine. If your politics differ from mine, that's totally fine too. Some issues can involve politicians but still be above politics. There isn't any justification for this beyond a transfer of public land use to a wealthier class of people.

@Sportergolf @garrett_TFE @chadmumm Hey that wolf game slaps. It regularly gets champs tour players and high level state players. They are really good golfers but not dudes that you really get into the nuances of the game with. The Young’s you can and a few other members, but I just worked there for a bit.

@garrett_TFE @chadmumm lol 5 rednecks playing a noon game of wolf every Friday will never be equal in *membership* to any single place mentioned is my point. Multiple greens having 6” drops or gashes won’t either (all fixed now s/o Ashley) But I agree, agree to disagree.
