I like when scientists and mathematicians say "write down" as though its a mic drop moment: "Then you can write down...the energy of an EM field!" "Whoa, what?! As if!" "Can't believe they just wrote that down, what a hero 🤩" "Ikr, I usually just write down lists and stuff :/"

The model may work to describe human behaviour, but that doesn't mean we should use it. Unlike an unthinking system, we humans can choose to do the opposite of the model. Perhaps this is what free will is in today's society: to know the pattern, yet choose to not confirm to it

I'm not just sick of the marketisation of academia. I'm sick of the marketisation of everything. The reduction of human experiences, of gaining knowledge, of creating and producing, of love, to profit motives makes me sick.

In response to being asked for feedback for a fricking BBQ, sometimes it's actually ok not to get feedback. Not to optimise business processes to maximise engagement. To not ask "What could we do better?". Sometimes things are just ok, and that is ok

I think we should view #ChatGPT as a null hypothesis generator. So long as we understand that it's not a truth generator, and consider epistemological ideas, then AI tools may allow us to move into a realm of deeper thought! #AcademicTwitter

It will definitely inform my work with @UniversityLeeds on how to implement true decolonisation initiatives. Drawing attention to the glaringly obvious financial power structures upholding the ivory towers :)

@SamLP @UniversityLeeds @leedsteaching Oh I'm with you here for sure. Read a paper on it recently. I was just considering the possibility of something being summatively marked...but not telling the students. Highly unethical, but with potentially very interesting results xD
