I worked the night shift at Sinai Health System last night. Dr. Paul Koblic worked the casino shift from 9 pm to 4 am. I'm old and he's young. He offered to stay all night if necessary to do the intubations so I wouldn't have to risk getting #COVID19. I'm crying as I write this.

I’m a full-time ER doc getting ready to work a 24 hour shift in the emergency department. I am genuinely more concerned about going to work tomorrow morning than I was the day I launched on the space shuttle. 1.5% shuttle mortality vs 9-12% if I get COVID-19.

5 years ago today, I woke feeling fine, then quickly developed malaise. An hour later, I started to rigor. I know rigors are bad, but I thought (hoped?) it was viral. I developed horrible, diffuse abd pain, vomiting, and relentless rigors. I had no idea what was going on. 1/18
