When Roy Keane went back to Cork in April 2025, there was a story that came out that didn’t sound like him at all. A man called Pat O’Sullivan, 78, was in the Mercy Hospital with dementia, and his son Rob had been trying to get him a message from his hero. He contacted Cork’s RedFM, hoping they might be able to reach Keane for a quick shout-out.  And what Keane did next is why it hit people. Because he didn’t send a video. He just turned up. Rob describes Keane walking into the hospital room and shaking his dad’s hand, like it was nothing, like it was the most normal visit in the world.  Keane went in to see Pat at the Mercy and made his day, and the family basically couldn’t believe he’d taken the time to do it in person.  And that’s the part that gets people. Because Roy Keane’s whole public image is shouting, scowling, and telling everyone they’re not good enough.
