Irish politicians are avoiding questions about Aughinish. Patrick O’Donovan refuses to answer my calls. The refinery is in his constituency He says the Russian owned plant is not connected to Russia’s war machine, without showing evidence. They want this to blow over. It won’t

Congratulations to the 19 year old 🇷🇺 rising tennis star Mirra Andreeva for winning women's Roland Garros tournament, her first Grand Slam. It was a good game Maja Chwalinska 🇵🇱. It was quite a feat to get to the grand slam final from qualifiers. Mirra saved the world of tennis from Ukrainian hypocrisy, xenophobic narratives, and making a spectacle of a professional tournament by politicizing the sport when she annihilated Marta Kostyuk in the semis. May the sportsmanship prevail. 🇷🇺🤝🇵🇱

The family of a 26-year-old Iranian man arrested within the last few days during the regime’s crackdown on protests have been told he will be executed, according to the Norway-based Hengaw Organization for Human Rights which focuses on rights violations in Iran. Despite the Iranian authorities blocking communications Hengaw says his family was able to reach them and share his story, hoping international pressure can help save Erfan Soltani. CBS News has not been able to verify their account.

Russia's full scale war against Ukraine, which Moscow started on 24th February of 2022, lasts now exactly as long as the German-Soviet war in WW2, exactly 1,418 days. This ludicrous number is for Russia a total embarrassment, especially when reflecting that Russia hasn't achieved even a single strategic victory. The Ukrainian state and government is very much in tact, same goes for the Ukrainian army. I have also added two maps showing the control area of both factions between December 2022 and January 2026. The older map marks the moment after the successful Ukrainian counteroffensives in 2022, where Russia lost the entire fronts in the North, Kharkiv and Kherson. As you can easily see, they are virtually identical. So, when you hear that Russia is moving forward then we are talking about minuscule speed. Even a snail would have been faster, literally. The Russian human material losses are huge. Around 1.2 million Russian casualties (KIA, WIA and MIA) are accounted for and those stand in contrast to no achieved strategic goals. The Russian economic losses are vast and actually far worse than the human material losses. Between $0.5 and $1 billion a day are the costs for the Russian war machine in order to keep it running. This abysmal number is not even Russia's biggest headache. The economic losses from lost markets, especially Europe, will have far worse impact. In turn, Russia has become absolutely dependent on China, and is practically reduced to be an economic vassal of Beijing. Politically, the Russian invasion has only been a nightmare for Moscow. Azerbaijan, Armenia, Syria, Venezuela, Sudan and now Iran are all countries were Russia lost all or almost all influence. Parallelly, Sweden and Finland joined NATO. Despite the fact that Russia is still continuing this war of aggression, it is obvious that this war has caused just negative effects on Russia and its population. Ukraine in turn is suffering, as well, but managed to strengthen the Ukrainian identity. The state is intact. When comparing this with the quoted the WW2, then the only conclusion is that Russia failed on an epic scale.
