Today the main job of the Bangladesh Army is "everything but warfighting": - Mercenary peacekeeping activities. - Providing cheap labour to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar armies (doing dangerous demining, construction and maintenance jobs at lowest rates). - Making ice cream, furniture, drugs, shoes etc. - Operating hotels and resorts. - Constabulary duties, as if Police doesn't exist. - Spying on Bangladeshi citizens and often detaining them on the behest of India. This started through the Indian agent Hussain Muhammed Ershad, the Indian born dictator of Bangladesh and it was followed up by every other political and military leadership in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Army's senior leadership today comprises of physically and mentally unfit persons, including the Army chief, who should have never become the CAS had it not been for his familial relationship with Sheikh Hasina. He also had a heart bypass, becoming the first medically unfit chief of the Bangladesh Army. He also sheltered and ensured safe transit of thousands of Awami League (AL) politicians, most of whom are wanted for crimes including murder, assault and corruption. When the Army is led by incompetent, and unfit persons the soldiers will never be capable of attaining their operational objectives. Funding a toy-like Army for annual military parades is unacceptable to Bangladeshi tax payers but unfortunately the latest regime in Bangladesh is bent on carrying forth the tradition of treachoury.
