I’m here at Launch Complex 39, Kennedy Space Center and the atmosphere is electric. We are patiently waiting for the liftoff of the Falcon Heavy that will take Europa Clipper to Jupiter in search of a habitable environment beyond Earth.

@_absrp @XiaohuaXu1 Interesting observation. The damage reported here (94% in shear modulus) is relevant to a theoretical prediction me and @DocTerremoto produced a few years ago: pulse propagation, reversely-propagating fronts, and complex seismicity; all from a simple LVFZ

Secondary damage zones around the Ridgecrest ruptures have very reduced shear moduli compared to their intact host material and may only be a few 100s of meters deep. May be tabular or v-shaped at depth. Great work by @XiaohuaXu1 and coauthors combining Sentinel data and FEM!
