Malaba presided over his own case, and he gave himself a favorable judgment, allowing himself to stay on for an additional 5 years as CJ. Now ED is doing the same! No to CAB3!!

Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.

🧵 Black Friday — The Day Zimbabwe’s Economy Fell Off a Cliff 14 Nov 1997. Morning: Harare’s currency dealers are shouting over each other, the phones won’t stop ringing, and prices on the board are spinning out of control. By nightfall, the Zimbabwean dollar had lost 71% of its value. The stock market was gutted. Ordinary Zimbabweans woke poorer than they’d ever been. This wasn’t "market forces". It was political arson.

BITTERNESS OVERSHADOWS BUSINESS… Ordinarily, when a Mayor of the SECOND LARGEST City in Zimbabwe that hosts the ZITF speaks on matters related to the trade fair, one would reasonably assume that he possesses FULL KNOWLEDGE of its purpose, INTENT and significance. Regrettably, when I read Mayor Coltart’s NAUSEATING and MISCHIEVOUS post, I then understood why the opposition-run Bulawayo City Council has DISMALLY FAILED to provide the most BASIC services such as clean water for its own long-suffering residents. I would have ordinarily IGNORED your disingenuous comments, but for what it is worth, allow me “YOUR WORSHIP @davidcoltart to CORRECT you and give you the hard FACTS, from which you may learn a thing or two. It is a matter of PUBLIC RECORD that H.E. President E.D. Mnangagwa, is a very METHODICAL, STRATEGIC and VISIONARY leader who DELIBERATELY selects the individuals he includes in his engagements. He is a LISTENING President who is OPEN to everyone, and more importantly, he is a President who DELIVERS economic transformation. It is ENTIRELY His Excellency’s decision and prerogative to include in his entourage whomsoever he deems fit, based on the VALUE and CONTRIBUTION they bring to any given occasion. I am a BUSINESSMAN and PHILANTHROPIST with vast interests in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and across the African continent, and there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING amiss, inexplicable or even DISRESPECTFUL for the 2 Presidents to be accompanied by a BUSINESSMAN at a BUSINESS trade fair !!!! What is instead alarming is that you find the TIME and ENERGY to craft mischievous and MISLEADING social media posts about the presence of a businessman touring exhibition stands with the 2 Presidents, yet under your watch, the people of Bulawayo have gone for YEARS without the most BASIC SERVICE DELIVERY that any self-respecting municipality owes its residents. As the opposition, you specialize with majoring in the MINOR …..while you FAIL DISMALLY on your KEY RESULT AREAS. Rather than venting your EMPTY and BITTER frustrations on social media in a desperate bid for ATTENTION and VALIDATION, Your Worship, I would strongly urge you to redirect that same energy towards MEANINGFUL DEVELOPMENT for the people of Bulawayo I need not remind you that at such events, the Presidium CUSTOMARILY and DELIBERATELY splits into MULTIPLE GROUPS to ensure that as many exhibition stands as possible are toured. The President tours certain stands accompanied by MINISTERS, BUSINESSMEN, FOREIGN DELEGATES and other dignitaries. The FIRST LADY separately tours exhibitions aligned to her own areas of interest and passion while the two Vice Presidents EACH separately tour their own designated exhibition stands. As a successful businessman of INTERNATIONAL REPUTE, my presence should NEVER lead one to assume anything UNUSUAL. Do NOT confuse your BITTERNESS with BUSINESS Your Worship. Our role as a BUSINESSMEN is to SUPPORT the socioeconomic development of our Nation and to CREATE meaningful synergies between the private sector and the public sector, towards achieving the UPPER MIDDLE INCOME ECONOMY status by 2030. Contrary to your purely racist SENSATIONAL claims which are typical of the opposition, ZITF 2026 was a RESOUNDING SUCCESS and a declaration to the world that ZIMBABWE IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS. PLEASE BE GUIDED ACCORDINGLY !!! #Vision_2030 #ZITF_2026 #EDHuchi 🐊🦁✊🏽🇿🇼 #Zimbabwe_Is_Open_For_Business #EDelivers #Second_Republic #EDHuchi 🐊🐊🐊✊🏽

Was CAB3 okayed by The People’s Congress for you to say that it enjoys the support of the party? No! Secondly, President ED has not been elected by Congress and should be serving his final term, which ends in 2028 according to the party constitution. So how can the current President be deemed to have succeeded to 2030 when he hasn’t won at Congress for him to be the ZANU PF leader from 2028-2032? You go on to say that Chiwenga has no support in the party. It’s too early to say that because at Congress next year, someone can nominate him and structures could vote for him as the new leader of ZANU PF, considering that the current President will have served his two terms is inallegeable to run again. Unless of course if ZANU PF has dumped its processes or it changes the constitution. Why wasn’t an extraordinary Congress held to allow Congress to pronounce itself on the CAB3 resolution and to select a new leader before CAB3 was pushed through? Because as it is, CAB3 is ultra vires. Finally, what made you feel that Chiwenga was taking aim at the President through his allegorical sermon which does not mention anyone’s name?

This is as brazen an attack on the President as one can ever give and coming from his own Deputy its shocking. For one so close to the President to resort to this is diplomatically gross and strategically poor. The VP is now seriously endangering his standing by pandering to the whims of social media and the opposition by indulging in content creation. The subject matter which he poorly dresses in Biblical frocks instead of explicitly stating his opposition to CAB3, as any serious politician would do, shows his level of frustration. Politically the man has been outmanoeuvred and if he is sincere that he opposes what ZANU PF has come to represent then he should resign like any self-respecting leader. What he is contesting is a party decision and he can't continue within an entity whose thinking and direction he doesn't accept! Resigning, not metaphors, is the only redemptive path for him. He should resign and then canvass for the support of the opposition, which he is clearly pandering to, against his own party. CAB3 is not the product of any single individual but is a ZANU PF project, a party to which he belongs. He cannot reduce it to any single Hezekiah when he has been part of Cabinet that approved it. He failed to block the resolution from the Conference, Politburo, Central Committee, Cabinet, Public Hearings and we are now reaching the Parliament stage. For the ruling party he has become the main opposition, providing fodder for continued tension and instability through such veiled attacks. The biggest takeaway from all this is that he lacks the necessary political muscle and internal support for anything of significance. Thats a hard truth which the doomsday prophets should quickly recognise and stop putting pressure on him to become some action hero. Party members have accepted the party decisions and moved on. Only social media and the motley crowd of illusionists hanging in shadows amount to the "army" that are beckoning him into what will surely amount to self-immolation. Fuelled by this "virtual army" he has instigated multiple political infractions goading President Mnangagwa who has himself remained dignified and quiet. ED's patience and Long-Game tactics are clearly unsettling him. It's just that the political standards for the opposition, which has embraced him on social media, is very low such that they can't recognise the absurdity of the VP remaining part of the machinery which they deride and yet embrace him as a shining light. For the ruling party he is becoming a liability publicly questioning party resolutions and feeding the public mentality with treasonous thoughts.

Your own exegesis here betrays the fact that the Bill was not properly conceptualized and adopted within ZANU PF in the first place. You admit in your own writing that the Bill was agreed to at Conference, yet the ZANU PF constitution is clear that only policies, decisions, and programmes enunciated by the People’s Congress can be implemented by the Central Committee and pushed through to national government. Additionally, the Bill seeks to extend the tenure of the current President of ZANU PF for another two years, yet: (i) he has not been reelected by Congress. (ii) the constitution of the party limits his tenure as party President to two terms which end in 2028. (iii) According to the national constitution, the incumbent can not enjoy a term limit extension to 2030 through an amendment that he has made, without changing the constitution through referendum. All these facts make the aspiration of CAB3 ultra vires with both ZANU PF and national constitutions. So how did CAB3 make its way to Cabinet without being enunciated by Congress? How did ZANU PF decide on the extension of the term of a candidate that they have not elected at Congress? And how did a Central Committee, with members who were not elected by Congress, also advance a programme not enunciated by Congress? I get it that all these procedural questions mean nothing to you as people who no longer believe in following rule of law, but following the person who pays the most. However, the above illustrates that CAB3 has not been properly adopted within ZANU PF because it did not follow and pass ZANU PF processes. As such, CAB3 is not the desire of the people, yet ZANU PF’s constitution states that its mandate comes from the people. Cabinet itself, which introduced the Bill, is said in the Constitution to derive its authority from the people who elected the executive. But Cabinet has pushed through a proposed amendment to the Constitution that did not emanate from the people, but from a small elite. Additionally, the same cabinet and the President want to stop the people who give them the authority, from electing the President. So from where will the President derive his authority if he is not elected by the people in ZANU PF and the electorate, Parliament? This is why Parliament, which is filled with ZANU PF officials who failed to follow their own constitution, is now seeking to push through this Bill without adhering to the formalities outlined in the national Constitution which ironically was created by a body (COPAC) that was chaired by the same President who is watching his followers not follow the same constitution he authored. The manipulation of ZANU PF’s internal processes and the disregard for its own constitution, have led us to a Parliament and executive that do not follow or respect the supreme law of the land, despite both being enjoined to follow and protect the constitution. This creates a constitutional and governance crisis in our country that is tantamount to a national security threat.

Consider two scenarios. First: CAB3 is enacted but Chiwenga succeeds ED. Will he accept the seven-year term established by CAB3? More fundamentally, will there be a genuinely free election in 2028 or 2030 or will we be back to the ZANU PF default mode? Second: CAB3 is enacted and ED extends his own tenure to 2030. If ED then extends Chiwenga’s vice‑presidential term to 2030 as well, will Chiwenga accept such extension? Facing these questions honestly helps explain why so much is in flux. Remember: life sometimes presents dilemmas that even fiction writers struggle to imagine. If you are not getting paid to take a position or to publicly push a narrative, you’ll always have a lot to think about. The morning after is always far more important than the day of merrymaking.
