An #orpol note about today's coin flip in the HD8 race. The last tie, in 2016, was NOT decided by a coin flip. It was decided by each candidate rolling a die, and the higher roll won. Seems more exciting than a single coin toss, but nobody asked me. knkx.org/politics/2016-…

6. Counties certify results on December 5. Anything declaring a winner prior to December 5 is a projection from our friends in the media. Those are informative but they are not real. 7. State certification is December 15.

I realize people see verification as some sort of status symbol, but this is so bad for emergency communication & information accuracy. During Salem's next ice storm or wildfire or whatever, people need to know the info they're sharing is from real emergency management accts.

@ByMikeBaker When I lived in Washington, DC, my car was stolen 3 times in 4 years. Twice it was recovered by the police after a chase. Once I found it on my own by driving around the neighborhood. Since moving to Portland, my car has been stolen 0 times. 🤞
