@BlondeNerd Honestly so depressing. I was really excited to see what Bluepoint was going to be able to accomplish with Sony's backing this generation. And this is just another in a long run of layoffs and studio closers. Hope you're doing well!

But here is the problem. Wages are not keeping up with inflation and havent for a very long time. The problem isnt the sticker price itself but the relative cost compared with earnings and cost of living

While I was away I still kept a close eye on the industry. I see a lot of worrying trends. The biggest of which is how expensive its becoming. Everything from hardware prices, game prices, subscription prices and more. If the trend continues I can see many people being priced out

Console and AAA isn't doomed. The hardcore are still spending keeping everything afloat
But how long does that last? What's the tipping point? This was already a feast or famine for expensive to produce games. What happens when buyers get even more picky on what they can afford

Typically at this point in the cycle is where getting into a console is supposed to be cheaper. It's where you get console sales to those less well off financially and kids to buy in and sustain a late tail
Thats not happening. In fact consoles are only going up in price
