@HeySamuelHey Completely agree. So much anxiety since ranking release - hate how there's still so much uncertainty in my career even though I'm nearing my 30s. :/

The thought of having to go through it all again potentially in 6 months/year weighs heavy. Compromise on speciality? Location? I have a partner from the middle of Foundation - toll on the relationship? There must be a better alternative to national recruiting practice.

Speciality applications are incredibly stressful - started in November, and offers will be released this week. Going through where you might be happy living, compromising on location and not having a clear idea of where you'll end up. All the application prep/interview prep.

Woke up from my post night shift nap to find out benchmarking is done and I can finally confirm that from August I’ll be an academic clinical fellow in ID/micro in Sheffield! The dream when I moved from NZ was academic ID training - so excited that it’s actually happening!

A long stay patient thanked me and wished me the best in my new rotation. 🥲
