@AngelaSowdon @HJB_News__ @JohnCleese You're entire timeline is motivated by racism and in particular, Islamophobia - so bring it on. But before you attempt that, I'd suggest you understand the defence of honest person - i.e. that anyone could have formed that opinion based on the facts that exist in abundance.

In the UK the DWP is handing out more than £6,000 to second wives and third wives as part of benefits given to people in polygamous marriages - and the amount is being increased from April.  The DWP has confirmed in its benefits uprating list for 2025-26 that ‘additional spouses’ in ‘polygamous marriages’ are being given a 4.8% boost to their benefits from April.

@AngelaSowdon @HJB_News__ @JohnCleese I'm saying that you clearly don't understand the rules. Unless it's a really odd legacy benefit; for UC, only two people are allowed on a claim. Anything beyond that is treated as an individual and are NOT recognised as spouses.

@DipBrig11 You're talking out of the orifice you clearly use to think, Greer. Due to high rents in London, it's perfectly possible to be earning up to about 33k a year and still be eligible for UC.

@becomeavillain_ @Queenie_2312 And if you actually bothered to read any of it, you'd see that nowhere does it say she can't claim with 10k in the bank. You have have up to 16k before you become ineligible.

@Queenie_2312 The point is she tried to claim in the first place knowing she got 10k in the account that's what's cheeky.

@AngelaSowdon @HJB_News__ @JohnCleese No my love.... you're reading a blatant race-bating post on X and assuming it be the absolute truth. It's not - it's a lie intended for you to pull a classic Les Dawson,Cissie and Ada reaction as you cross your arms under your tits and tut loudly.

@Benondole @HJB_News__ @JohnCleese Clearly that’s not how it works, multiple wives are being recognised &receiving benefits, these people are part of the same household SHOULD NOT BE RECEIVING ANY BENEFITS BECAUSE THEY can’t EXIST UNDER UK 🇬🇧 LAW. One wife, one husband at the same time. Otherwise it’s bigamy

@HJB_News__ @JohnCleese Please explain to me how in a Country where bigamy is illegal we can somehow recognise multiple wives, pay for them, and not send the bigamist husband to prison. Why is anyone but the 1st wife being included on any claim. Madness.

@toady @flickhwilliams So you didn't think to use the link they sent you? Or pop in to the job centre to send them off for free? p.s. you've just changed your story for the reason it triggered a review, so yeah, your pants are definitely on fire.

My cousin’s daughter, a single mother in her 30s, received a small legacy of £10K. She declared it to DWP who immediately stopped her UC and now require her to produce 7 years worth of bank statements❗️That’s how the system punishes honesty… 1/

@Hossylass @linmeitalks Whether benefits are enough is a different argument - but £4.35 isn't punitive - that's the taper. Sanctions are not supposed to be punitive - they are intended to be a way to get people to reengage however if staff apply them punitively they should be fired.

@Benondole @linmeitalks The system very much is designed to be punitive. For every £250 or part thereof over the £6k over £4 a month is deducted, despite this rate of return on that money being unachievable. That is punitive. Then there are the sanctions. They are extremely punitive.

@KShabby16334956 Lived and breathed it - became a bit of serendipitous expert on it. It should be liveable and a genuine safety net - but it isn't. But the application isn't supposed to be punitive however, from experience some people choose to apply it like that for apparent jollies.

The system absolutely IS designed to be punitive, abusive, coercive, and controlling. If you've never endured it, you have no idea.
Ben O'Fits@Benondole

@linmeitalks No it's not. You can have up to 16k on Universal before you stop receiving any entitlement. However, given 7 years of statements requested, there's probably more to this story than she's posting - or that she actually knows about. The system isn't designed to be punitive.

@linmeitalks That isn't what she is doing but you can claim benefits with 10k in the bank. They simply deduct accordingly.

@Iam_RFX @flickhwilliams Nope - because it's allowed as a disregard because if you're awarded a backdated payment, it's viewed as money they should have had from the outset. It's not a windfall as such. Likewise, compensation payments are usually disregarded for 12 months depending on circumstances.

Interesting because lots of “sick” people a couple of years ago in my hometown who have never worked in their lives managed to all get back dated pip money ranging from around £8000-£15000 depending on the person. To my knowledge none of these had their UC stopped after receiving these payments.

@flickhwilliams @toady She's literally telling porkies - and without checking I'm assuming she's got a political axe to grind against the government? If she was asked for 7 years of statements, they've got serious questions + she would have been sent a link to upload the electronic documents.

@toady @flickhwilliams You're telling porkies to jump in bed with Flick. The UCR team send you a secure link to upload the electronic copies, and failing that, you could have popped in to your local job centre who would have posted them for you for free.
