In 2024, Massachusetts voters overwhelmingly approved Question 1 by about 72%, explicitly granting her office the authority to conduct performance audits of the Legislature—including the House, Senate, and joint committees. Yet more than a year later, legislative leaders—including House Speaker Ronald Mariano and Senate President Karen Spilka—have resisted cooperation. DiZoglio requested key documents such as budgets, prior audits, monetary transactions, and contracts starting in early 2025. This standoff escalated in February 2026 when DiZoglio filed a lawsuit in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) to compel access.
