Well, it’s done. This is me getting robed for my PhD graduation in October 2024. Today I left @LSBU after 11years and 10days. It’s been a blast, but it’s time for me to leave; and to go on to other things.
English

@PaulWRamsay YES Paul! That’s brilliant! Well done!
English

@BDevlin1 Good wishes for your safe recovery, Brian.

It’s strange standing at a crossroads in your life & experiencing both paths
I’ve been in Canada for 2 months so far on sabbatical & hadn’t expected to love it as much as I have.
Work prospects & pay for GPs infinitely better than the UK, surrounded by stunning natural beauty, my kids thriving on having an outdoor childhood - what I always wanted for them
But last week an unexpected family bereavement made me question everything. Having to watch the funeral on Zoom alone at 2am, the guilt of not being there to support my family, not being able to give my Mum a hug.
I don’t know if I’m making the right decision or not….but for me, home is where my family is

@Dr2NisreenAlwan I persevered for 4 weeks, really struggled. Had a break for 7-10 days. Tried again. It was like I’d always had them. Worth seeing if optician can help adjust to make computer use okay for you. I don’t have any problem with that.

My best friend from school died yesterday. We sat together all through primary and secondary school. I used to sing this to him in German class to make him laugh. Love you Kevin. m.youtube.com/watch?v=B-2Men…

@NikkiClints I have started recording the things they say as a little memory 😂

Kid 2 was disappointed he couldn’t join the new chess club at school as he’s too young
Kid 1’s response?!
1) Join chess club
2) Become “chess monitor” (yes, he made up the role himself)
- teachers agreed!
3) Change the name to “chess/teaching chess club” & now ALL kids can join!
Super proud of him! 👏

@DrNeenaJha @Dr_DeanS Yup. Treat the child, not the fever.
English

Yes fully agree! There’s a lot of worry about kids with a fever, I reassure parents it’s a normal physiological response (obv advice may change for specific pts). I (usually) advise it’s not the fever that dictates when to give anti-pyretics, but how the child is responding/coping with the fever

I passed my #PhD viva investigating immune response in #HeartFailure! I am grateful to my supervisors @PasqualeMaffia and @PierpaoloPel, my examiners Prof. Paul Welsh and Prof. Massimo Iacoviello, my family and friends, and my colleagues @LIVE_iiiglasgow. Thank you (شكرا جزيلا).

English

@Biggreenbooks Good luck! (Are you taking a horse with you?)

Hello.
We're off to do this in a bit. Waah!!
It's sunny, but a bit windy.
I've had weetabix and a banana (no cheese).
Starts at 10.30.
Wish us luck!

Day 1: Known as an antibiotic with anti-parasitic properties, #metronidazole was discovered in the 1960s for efficacy against amoebic dysentery. This led to the accidental discovery of activity against anaerobic bacterial infections with expanded use in 1970s
