How many more articles like this does The Economist have to publish before it changes its editorial line on Brexit?

Kemi Badenoch is absolutely fantastic on Laura kuenssberg. She is so articulate and deals with every question honestly and fairly and has the decency to admit if mistakes were made unlike the SNP . She would be an excellent PM 👏

Starmer is unpicking Brexit and planning another undemocratic hit job on British taxpayers by signing us up to a £1billion annual payment to the EU. Once again, this weak Prime Minister goes to the negotiating table, comes home empty-handed, having fleeced hard pressed taxpayers with his terrible judgment. thetimes.com/article/8d7711…

I used to think you couldn’t put a price on stupidity. Turns out you can. Recall that we import more from the EU than we export to it.

🚨 SILENCE IS NOT AN OPTION Another attack on the Jewish community. After weeks of arson attacks on synagogues and the firebombing of community-funded ambulances, and just over 6 months after two Jews were killed outside a Manchester synagogue, we have more stabbings on our streets. Political leaders like Keir Starmer and Sadiq Kahn will say that 'anti-Semitism has no place in London'. They will offer more money to build more gates and train more security. Others like Zack Polanski will claim that Jews are 'weaponising' anti-Semitism. Which means that as anti-Semitism grows — along with its bloody consequences — our politicians have nothing to offer beyond more isolation for Britain's Jews. So today non-Jews must reply by visibly standing with the Jewish community. Show that Britons do not accept that in Britain in 2026, Jews should be under siege. State that whilst our politicians continue to prevaricate about proscribing terror groups, we will not tolerate the intolerant. Demonstrate that Britain stood up to anti-Semitism in the past and we can do it again. This evening, Our Fight and its non-Jewish campaigners will be in Golders Green to show solidarity, and we urge other non-Jews to join us. There is no such thing as the silent majority. There is only silence. 📍 Clock Tower, opposite Golders Green tube, London 🕠 5.30pm onwards 🗓️ Today — Wednesday, April 29th, 2026

@DanielJHannan could he have known what he was saying to the House was not true, and should he have known, if he had asked the right officials instead of just SpAds. Does the same apply in this case?

@DanielJHannan The real question is twofold, and left Boris being unable to explain himself to the PrIv after (quite apart from his attempt to defy and denigrate the whole process, which was itself a contempt of Parliament): 1/2 …

This is going to be unpopular, but here goes. I believe Sir Keir Starmer. I don’t think he would be so foolish, or so careless, as to lie to Parliament. He is an ultra-cautious man, a creature of procedure. When he says that he did not discover until this month that Peter Mandelson had been denied security clearance as a potential ambassador, I think he is telling the truth. But here’s the thing. He never allowed the slightest leeway to others in similar circumstances. As leader of the Opposition, he always assumed the worst, always levelled accusations of lying, always demanded resignations. Boris Johnson was, in my view, also telling the truth as he understood it when he said that he had been “assured that no Covid rules were broken”. He plainly took the word “party” to mean a festive congregation of invited guests, not a break for tea among keyworkers. The only actual party in Number 10 was organised by officials while Boris was 40 miles away. Yet Starmer insisted that this was “industrial-scale law-breaking,” and that Boris must “do the decent thing and resign.” Having set those standards for everyone else, he can hardly now expect an opt out himself.

Olly Robbins has set out why developed vetting has to be held so secretly, and I hope the committee will ask how much the PM discusssed all this with Olly Robbins before deciding to sack him. @CommonsForeign

Watching Olly Robbins ev session with @CommonsForeign: clear that imposition of codes and procedures requiring records of even just conversations leaves very little space for the kind of private exchange between trusting individuals. Without that, orgs don’t function so well.

@LOS_Fisher To be clear, “security clearance” (in this case conducted by Cab Office before the appointment) is not the same as Developed Vetting (conducted by Foreign Office AFTER the appointment was made).

Now @reformparty_uk wants new laws to start prosecuting lawyers for promoting asylum claims. Bonkers! It’s the immigration laws which need fixing. Are they going to prosecute the tribunals and judges too? 🤪 @Conservatives Learn from the past. Plan for the future.

More proof that Labour is killing economic growth, fuelling inflation & killing jobs. Every decision made by Labour has involved hurting business, cutting jobs & damaging the fabric of our economic base. They are not capable of running our country. mol.im/a/15712311
