Halftime
Parklane 28 | OFA 6
Class of 2027 WR @CarruthDavis16 scored his 3rd TD of the game with this screen-and-run that featured some great downfield blocking.
OFA did respond with a TD thanks to an INT, but RB Tanner Kyzar answered with a score of his own just before half.
With only 16 days until @AlabamaFTBL starts the 2025 season, today we remember Paul Ott Carruth who came to Alabama as a quarterback but shifted to halfback his sophomore season under Paul “Bear” Bryant in 1981.
Hailing from Hattiesburg, Miss., he signed with Alabama in 1980 as a quarterback, but became a running back in Bryant’s final two years (1981-82). After redshirting in 1983 under new head coach Ray Perkins, Carruth found himself thrust into a pivotal role his senior year after a knee injury to Kerry Goode in the first game against Boston College.
With Goode lost for the season, Perkins turned to Carruth to shoulder the ground attack. He rushed for 782 yards and eight touchdowns, while also catching 18 passes for 224 yards and three more touchdowns. He earned Most Valuable Player honors in the 1985 Senior Bowl.
After playing one season in the USFL with the Birmingham Stallions, Carruth played three years with the Green Bay Packers and one with the Kansas City Chiefs.
