The commentary on X is so dumb. I feel like if there was a dislike button, most content would get more dislikes than likes, (and some people might realise their ideas aren't that great). Showing only likes, and promoting based on engagement is just a bad format.

@RupertLowe10 The problem with Rupert, is that I don't think he knows enough. Let's say we ask how many of them we CAN send back, depending on agreements with other nations, could he answer that? I doubt it, but as an MP it's pretty much his job to learn this stuff.

Roughly 12% of the prison population is foreign - that's 10,423 foreign nationals in our prisons, as of December 2023. My view? Foreign criminals should be deported, immediately. Freeing up funds and space. Why are we paying for their upkeep? Send them back.

@BobMacBobFace @darrengrimes No they are being punished for taking part in riots. People are punished based on the severity of the riot, not just their own acts - on the premise that each person involved encourages others and makes the riot harder to shut down.

@darrengrimes It’s a glaring hypocrisy. People are being jailed for expressing their views or showing pride in their country, while others face minimal consequences for much worse. This double standard is eroding trust in the justice system.

@darrengrimes People who take part in a riot are punished for being part of the riot, not their individual act. The crime is being involved in a riot rather than engaging in a certain act themselves.

@AlrxCox @Nigel_Farage The UK only grants work visa to high paid people or those going to work in areas where there are worker shortages. Low paid people who fill shortage jobs are contributing to the country through their service - which isn't counted in these statistics.

@clairebubblepop You should really stop going on about this. MPs are well paid, but really not very well paid compared to CEOs and business leaders. Expenses are part of their payment. The danger of underpaying MPs is that good people aren't interested in the job and go elsewhere.

Do you know what really FUCKS me off? It’s the way MPs can have second jobs, multiple streams of income… yet still claim for energy bills. But they tell pensioners on as little as £11k, you gotta pay your own heating bills. It’s the audacity, you don’t get poverty do you?

Most migrants are legal, and legal migrants have to meet a standard that involves them benefitting the country. Immigrants probably boost GDP per person.

@fascinatorfun I believe they are deported at the end of their sentence. Perhaps Tice wants them deported immediately, although the risk then is that they largely go free, which could be seen as insufficient deterrent.

@MWJ_UK @Zokko18 I believe pension levels are roughly comparable now to what they have been in the past. If you want to be well off on retirement, take out a private pension. The state pension has never been a solve all for retirement.

No, they’ve ‘paid into the system all their life' under the false belief their contributions would provide for them in their twilight years. That the State Pension has to be supplemented for many Pensioners to both heat and eat is a failure of successive Governments, not of the people.

No pensioner has 'paid into the system all their life' for the winter fuel allowance. It's only existed since 1997.

You know I don’t like some of the choices Labour have made. But the right absolutely losing their tiny minds over the winter fuel allowance is pretty ironic. None of them said anything about pensioners sitting in libraries or on buses to stay warm the last few years. Or did you forget how Tories allowed energy bills to get so high some pensioners did die when they couldn’t keep the heating on.
