Katie wins again! 🙌🥇 Katie Archibald completed a dominant weekend at the 2024 UCI Track Nations Cup in Milton 🇨🇦 for herself and the Great Britain Cycling team, with her victory in the women’s omnium ensuring she comes home with a hat-trick of golds, and the team top the medal table. A sublime performance on the bike throughout the day saw Katie ride to victory in each of the first three events – scratch, tempo and elimination – meaning she went in to the final points race with a maximum 120 points and a commanding lead already. It meant she could stay out of trouble in the crucial event, only having to mark any breaks from a couple of her closest rivals. Involvement in a few of the sprints – including a win in the fourth – meant she was never going to be caught and in the end Archibald finished 20 points clear of Letizia Paternoster 🇮🇹 in second. Jess Roberts also featured in the omnium with a solid effort through the day seeing her ride to a 19th place finish. Earlier in the evening Ollie Wood and Mark Stewart had ridden a good men’s madison, finishing in seventh place. Early involvement in the sprints had seen them build a steady points tally, however they were unable to make an attempt at a lap gain stick in what was a tricky, broken up race. In the men’s sprint both Joe Truman and Hamish Turnbull posted good times to qualify well however they found themselves up against tough opposition in the 1/8 finals and were eliminated. Impressive results throughout the three rounds of the Nations Cup mean the team have collected 21 medals – and finish top of the overall world cup standings for the second year in a row. Milton medal madness continues 🥇🇨🇦 The Great Britain Cycling Team continued to dominate the boards in Milton at the final round of the 2024 UCI Track Nations Cup with Madison and omnium golds and a keirin bronze. Neah Evans and Katie Archibald were a formidable force in the women’s Madison. World champion Evans and Olympic champion Archibald were undeniably the strongest pair, winning four sprints to take the overall title on 37 points - 12 points ahead of their nearest rivals. It was Archibald's second gold of the weekend after the women’s team pursuit win yesterday. European champion Ethan Hayter proved he was the man to beat in the omnium, taking the gold in a fantastic final points race. Hayter started the competition well, finishing the scratch in fifth position, before pushing on in the tempo race to win four sprints and take a lap to finish third, and be triple tied for gold in the standings. A tactical elimination race saw Hayter come to life, and he secured the win with ease to go into the final race in the gold medal position. Hayter rode a fierce points race from start to finish, winning the first and penultimate sprint and taking two laps of the field to claim the gold with 163 points. Jack Carlin won a brilliant bronze in a battling men’s keirin final. World champion Harrie Lavreysen led out the sprint with two laps to go, while Carlin stuck to the black line to stay under the pack. Coming into the final straight, Carlin just found a gap to swing up and take the line in bronze position. Joe Truman and Hamish Turnbull rode well earlier in the day, but both were edged out in the first round and unable to progress past the repechages. Madison magic Down Under 💫 Great Britain added another gold to their medal tally on the second day of competition at the UCI Track Nations Cup round in Adelaide. Elinor Barker and Katie Archibald claimed gold in an expertly ridden women’s Madison. The British pairing dominated the race with their impeccably timed changeovers helping them to take maximum points in five of the 12 sprints. Neah Evans and Sophie Lewis put in an equally impressive ride in the green Team Inspired skinsuits, but were edged off the podium in the final sprint and had to settle for fourth. Jack Carlin progressed through the keirin rounds nicely as he looked to add to his team sprint bronze from yesterday, but was unable to hold on to a podium place and finished fourth. Joe Truman and Hamish Turnbull were both edged out in their respective heats, but will be back for the individual sprint tomorrow. Ollie Wood and Will Tidball got some important racing in the legs in the men’s omnium. After middle-order finishes in the scratch, tempo and elimination races for both, Will moved himself up to seventh overall in the points race with two late sprint wins and a lap gain. Ollie unfortunately crashed late on and finished 11th overall. Following their team sprint victory yesterday, Emma Finucane, Sophie Capewell, Katy Marchant and Lauren Bell all qualified for the individual sprint convincingly, but were unable to advance past the quarter finals. They go again in the keirin tomorrow! Medal tally // 🥇 3 | 🥈 1 | 🥉 2 #TissotNationsCup | @UCI_Track
