Former Bessemer Police Officer Stephen Williams was killed in the line of duty tonight,6/2/2020. Williams was currently serving as a Sergeant with the Moody Police department. Please keep The Williams family,Moody Police Department and Bessemer Police Department in your prayers.

The Bessemer City Council has extended the State of Emergency in Bessemer until Friday, May 15. All city buildings remain closed to the public until Monday, May 18. Persons entering a city building after May 18 will be required to wear a mask.

Bessemer traffic advisory; Northbound lanes of I59/20 at mile marker 113 are shut down due to an accident. Use alternate routes such as 9th Avenue North.

Bessemer area traffic update! Most major railroad crossings are open for your safe travel. This includes Highway 150, Eastern valley road at Sparks Gap road, 18th and 19th streets. Be safe!

Traffic update for the Bessemer area! The railroad crossings at Highway 150 are closed until further notice. The railroad crossing on Eastern Valley Rd at Sparks Gap road is closed until further notice. Please plan your route accordingly and be safe!
