Following the successful release of their survey earlier this year, Children in Wales’ Peer Research group were invited to present their work at a Youth-led conference in Glasgow. 🙌
The group explained their research process, which began with a survey targeting children & young people with the results then being explored through focus groups. 📄

@Tom_Nicholas You can buy advance tickets, but you don’t actually save that much. And because I have an onward journey, I am reluctant to buy tickets I can only use on a specific time. An anytime return is nearly £200, even with a railcard. The journey is about 2 hours each way. Its nuts.

@Tom_Nicholas I travel cross country pretty regularly, the Cardiff to London train is similarly ridiculous. With a super off peak ticket, I can only leave London between 10.30am and 3pm, or after 7pm. And I pay £65+ for the privilege (with a railcard!!), and sometimes don’t have a seat.

Arriving back in the UK from Japan, we needed to get a train from London to Plymouth.
Simple enough.
Yet, we had to ask four separate members of GWR staff before someone could explain when our off-peak tickets were and weren't valid.
