"Have you ever wondered why opinions which the majority of people quite naturally hold are denounced as 'controversial', 'extremist', 'explosive', 'disgraceful', and overwhelmed with a violence and venom quite unknown to debate on mere political issues?" Enoch Powell

The time for the peddling of comfortable nostrums by the liberal elite has long since passed. For Jeremy Hunt to limit his observations about immigration to platitudes about taking in the “best and brightest” from around the world, ignoring the enormous issues of safety, integration of migrants and community relations, is completely inadequate. Immigration remains in the hundreds of thousands every year. Meanwhile the concerns about multiculturalism remain completely unaddressed. When will we finally drop this stuff and tackle the issues raised by immigration head on?

“Being a fogey in those days was, in fact, a form of rebellion against the boring conformity of pop culture — against the unthinking left-wingery of the university common rooms & the bigwigs in the art world, who were obsessed only with being modern & ‘progressive’” A.N. Wilson

The Government governs in the name of The King. This so-called simplification does nothing more than diminish and dislocate the monarchy from national life, whilst muddying long-established constitutional principles. We call on His Majesty’s Government to reverse this change.

Whenever I see pictures of Churchill’s funeral - the anniversary of which falls today - it feels like the last gasp of a kind of unabashed Britishness. Unequivocally proud of its heroes, unapologetic about martial patriotism and not yet undermined by cultural self-loathing.
On This Day RN@OnthisdayRN

#OnThisDay 1965 the state funeral of Sir Winston Churchill, took place at St Pauls. All of the Armed Forces were involved but it was the privilege of the @RoyalNavy to pull his coffin on a gun carriage. Churchill held post of 1st Lord of the Admiralty twice

"A city which may not be as old as Rome, as high as New York, as beautiful as Paris or as symbolic as Athens but which is bigger and better than most of them at most things, most of the time." The naysayers are wrong – London remains a truly great city telegraph.co.uk/travel/destina…
