I am over 90 years old, and today I adopted a dog named Benson. His previous family abandoned him because he was 14 years old. His old owner suggested euthanasia, but the shelter staff refused, stating that he was healthy enough and they kept him.
People and my family kept telling me that adopting a dog at my age wouldn’t be a good idea and that I wouldn't be able to take care of him. When I heard Benson's story, I went to adopt him. As soon as I approached him, he laid his head on my chest as if he knew me from before.
Now he is with me, sleeps beside me, and during the winters, he wears a little sweater. People tell me that I gave him a new life, but the truth is that Benson has brought so much peace to my life. We both share peaceful moments together every day.

I canceled my wedding... because my fiancée's careless actions almost killed my Labrador. 💔
I'm 28, she's 27. We were together for 4 years, engaged for 6 months. My Labrador is 7 years old — very gentle, loyal
Last Saturday, she had her bachelorette party at home. I went to my parents' place and left the dog with her because she said she liked him.
Before leaving, I simply said: "When the party starts, put him in the bedroom."
That's it.
Sunday morning at 5 AM, I got a call. She was panicking, saying something happened to the dog. She was so drunk she couldn't speak clearly. I told her to take him straight to the vet.
When I arrived, she was crying. Friends told me the dog was alive... but not okay.
Then the vet informed me...
My dog had consumed alcohol... and had also eaten chocolate edibles. 💔
Everything was left open — drinks, edibles — all within his reach. No one put him in the room. Everyone was busy... and he was poisoned.
That dog trusts people completely.
And they let him down.
When I got home, I said directly — pack your things, cancel the wedding.
She was shocked.
I wasn’t.
Then I started getting calls.
Her family, friends... everyone said I was overreacting. "Ending a relationship over one mistake."
My family was also on her side.
My mom said: "She didn't mean to. The dog survived, right?"
Yes… he survived.

My sister also said I overreacted.
But no one understands...
This isn't just about one night.
She uses her phone while driving.
She has left the stove on before.

It was the scene from last Sunday at the riverside shelter.
The old woman sitting on the bench is 77 years old and her name is Frances.
She lost her husband, with whom she had been for 43 years, and after he passed away, home started to feel empty and lonely to her.
Her daughter Nina took her forcefully to an adoption event.
Frances kept expressing her sadness repeatedly, saying that she is old and no one would choose her.
There were a lot of people in the room, both elderly and kids; there were voices and movement everywhere.
Frances sat on a chair to the side, watching everything.
A few dogs came near her and then went over to others.
She responded to herself in a low voice from her chair.
Then came a dog named Harvey.
Harvey is a 6-year-old gray dog who was very mischievous and had been to several events, but no one had chosen him.
Harvey approached several families and kids and straightaway walked over to Frances.
Frances looked at him and felt emotional.
Harvey placed his head on her lap and started looking up at her.
Nina was watching all this and remarked that Harvey had left everyone else and chosen her mother.
That same day, Frances adopted him, and as she was leaving, she said she hadn’t eaten anything but he came to her.

Man jailed after leaving dog in 'unnecessary pain and distress' and refusing to take it to a vet.
Craig Taylor failed to get help for his dog, despite the @ScottishSPCA making two appointments for him at the vets.
An inspector returned a month later to inform the owner that his dog could be signed over into the care of the Scottish SPCA if appropriate care for Tank wasn’t provided.
Taylor reacted in an aggressive manner, and his pet was removed from the property.
He was jailed for 28 days.
