Yesterday we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the Washington Park Activity Center—and what an incredible moment for our community! 🎉
This spring, the WAC has been transformed with refurbished indoor and outdoor basketball courts, a new computer lab, a teen lounge, and a beautiful outdoor mural created by Martin Moreno.
The mural is especially meaningful, honoring the rich history of the Santa Rosa Barrio and the families who helped shape this community.
This is what investing in our neighborhoods looks like—creating spaces where our youth, families, and future can thrive. 💙

Thank you @FOX10Phoenix for covering this story.
He may have led the movement, but he wasn’t the movement. Real change is never about one person—it’s about people coming together, standing up, and doing the work side by side.

Today, the City of Phoenix took action to protect our community.
Too many people in Phoenix are living in fear—and when people are afraid to report crime or ask for help, our city is less safe.
That’s why I helped draft and develop this initiative—one of the strongest approaches of any major city in the country.
We’re focusing on what we control: our property, our employees, our data—and keeping people safe.
Because in Phoenix, fear doesn’t decide how we live—our community does.

For the 7th year in a row, I had the honor of throwing the first pitch at the @Dodgers Spring Training game! ⚾️
District 5 is incredibly lucky to have two amazing spring training facilities right here in our community — bringing families together and supporting our local economy.
Grateful for moments like this and proud to represent D5. Here’s to a great season ahead! 💙

💛 Today, we said goodbye to a true friend and leader. 💛
Today was a bittersweet day as we celebrated the retirement of our City Manager, Jeff Barton. Jeff has been more than a leader — he’s been a mentor, a problem-solver, and a true friend to so many across the City of Phoenix.
Thank you, Jeff, for your years of dedicated service and for the countless lives you’ve touched along the way. Your commitment to our city has made Phoenix stronger, more compassionate, and better prepared for the future.
You will be deeply missed — but your impact will continue for years to come.
Wishing you nothing but joy and new adventures in your next chapter. 💛

🔥 A Proud Day for Maryvale! 🔥
Yesterday, we celebrated the Bricklaying Ceremony for Fire Station 15 — a huge win for District 5 and the City of Phoenix!
This new station represents trust, safety, and a stronger future for west Phoenix.
It’s also the first project under the City’s General Obligation Bond Program — proof that Maryvale matters. 💛
Thank you to our voters, Phoenix Fire Department, Mayor Gallego, and everyone who made this milestone possible. Together, we’re building a safer, stronger community!

Today, I’m proud to share some exciting news about a program that’s saving lives right here in Phoenix.
The Phoenix Fire Department’s Lockbox Program helps first responders get into your home quickly during an emergency — without breaking down a door or damaging property. 🚒
It’s especially important for seniors, people with disabilities, and anyone who lives alone.
And today, I’m thrilled to announce the relaunch of the Lockbox Program — now with materials and outreach available in Spanish!

✨ Today I had the pleasure of spending time with the amazing students at Maryvale High School to talk about the importance of National Voter Registration Day. 🗳️
Our young people are the future of our democracy, and making sure they have the tools and knowledge to get registered and make their voices heard is so important. 💪🏽
Thank you, Maryvale, for welcoming me into your school and for showing so much excitement about civic engagement!

🎉💛 What an unforgettable night, Phoenix! 💛🎉
This past Saturday, we celebrated our 4th Annual El Grito Festival, and it was incredible to see so many families and friends come together in the heart of downtown Phoenix. 🇲🇽✨
From the legendary sounds of Tropicalísimo Apache and Dueto Las Voces del Rancho, to the energy of Mariachi Rubor, Banda La Parrandera, and DJ La Pachanga, the music carried our pride and traditions through the night. 🌟
The community enjoyed authentic Mexican food, local vendors, and the joyful spirit of coming together as one. None of this would have been possible without our amazing partners and everyone who worked so hard to make this event a success.
Thank you, Phoenix, for making this year’s El Grito a celebration to remember — we can’t wait to see you again next year! 🙌

📉 Crime Down, Safety Up in District 5 — But Our Work Continues!
The Phoenix Community Safety Plans (CSPs) are making a real difference here in District 5. 🚓✨
CSPs bring together technology, police, City staff, and community resources — from cleanups and graffiti removal to homelessness outreach — to improve safety and quality of life in key areas along I-17.
A new ASU study shows crime is down in every CSP area, and residents say their neighborhoods look and feel saferthan before.
It’s great to see progress — but we still have more work ahead of us. We must stay on track to keep crime down and continue building safer, stronger neighborhoods for everyone.
