Happy new Between Two Books recommendation day to all who celebrate❤️‍🔥

‘Hagstone’ uses elements of folk horror and Irish mythology to explore the reality of life as an artist, and the tension between isolation and community.

Nell, a visual artist, is invited by the Iníons to create a piece of art celebrating their history, to be ready for a special ceremony on Samhain (November 1st).

Our next pick is ‘Hagstone’ by @sineadgleeson: a gripping, haunting tale set on an isolated island off the coast of Ireland. It centres on a mysterious commune of women known as the Iníons who ‘live outside parameters the world was desperate to impose on them’.

So in a gentle return, we’re reading Susanna Clarke’s dreamlike second novel, Piranesi, a book that brought me back to reading before. ♥️ x @susannaclarke_

We’re back! Touring tends to rob me of my ability to read, the adrenaline and exhaustion makes it harder to concentrate, and along with recovering from literally almost dancing myself to death I found myself in a bit of a reading slump.
