What would you wear if you were having your portrait painted? 🤔 Many sitters in the 18th century faced this very dilemma. Read more on the popularity of 'Vandyke' clothing by @BexUnsworth 👉 artuk.org/discover/stori… 🧑‍🎨 Thomas Gainsborough (1727–1788) 📷 @BM_AG

One of the earliest collections Yves Saint Laurent designed in his own right for the house of Dior in 1958 included this short crinoline style gown in soft pink. The rose theme is echoed through self coloured blooms that catch at the hem @NGVMelbourne

Do you have a favourite spring flower? 🌼 The daffodil, or narcissus, was one of Philipp Otto Runge's favourite motifs. This découpage was made with white laid paper on blue paper by Runge around 1795–1810. Runge (1777–1810) was a German artist who, despite his short life and career, was considered one of the best of his time and one of the leading painters of the Romantic movement.

You'll find a rainbow at each corner of Mary Newill's embroidered bed cover, 1902. I've enjoyed seeing this in real life for the first time on display in the #VictorianRadicals exhibition @BM_AG. A digital copy is nice but nothing beats the real thing! #FindARainbowDay
