Problem with modern film colour. Lighting was once used on set/in cam to direct your attention to where it "should be." Now, just make a dozen digital masks, darken/lighten them and your eyes are now looking at the bright artificial glowy spot on screen or vice versa. Bravo.

It's difficult to communicate what I'm asking. I'm not asking about the utility of "the knife". I'm asking about how the material to make the knife was acquired. Was the metal purchased? Was the wood for the handle purchased? Were the materials stolen? Was the metal mined using child labor? Is the leather for the sheath from a protected species? Was the wood from a 1000 year old tree? I'm not a fan of the "knife" analogy - it's crude and missed the point (pun).
Sean Ward@seanward

@Stretchedwiener The model and what the model were trained on are two totally different things. Same as you can use a knife in the preparation of a beautiful meal or you can kill someone with it.

So I have been seeing some replies here that express a nervousness for not knowing how to get past the "Small Talk Phase" of DMing someone. So I'm gonna give some advice! Be genuine about your intentions for DMing. When it comes to mutuals that means there is something you both like about each other which is a conversational common ground. But if you can't remember why you are mutuals you can always see if they have liked any of your recent posts and use that as a starting off point. But, let's say you aren't mutuals or maybe they haven't been engaging in your posts, or just you want something else as a starter. Here's a few things to use: 1) Express why you started following them in the first place. People being reminded that their presence has value in the lives of others can be a life changing experience and you expressing that can really help especially with the invisible battles we all face. 2) Sending memes that relate towards their humor. I know it feels very grade school to do that, but it is actually something that has gotten me to become closer friends with a lot of people. Humor is a binding glue for friendships. 3) Asking for advice. This one can be tricky because it is you asking for them to dedicate some time to message you, but most of the time creators out here want to help however they can. Don't be discouraged if they can't provide anything past an "I'm sorry" but it does lead into the next step of asking if maybe they can guide you somewhere to help. I know these are three nebulous tidbits of advice, but at its core they are simple enough to work at times. Are they guaranteed? No. Some people have their messages set in a certain way where it may not even go through. Does this work for me? Yeah. All of these do. But I am not the standard for how creators should be out here to tell you the truth. For me it is confidence. If you come to me with any amount of confidence or courage? I'll see it and appreciate it. And I am pretty easy to get along with (in my mind) especially since I lay bare everything about who I am: a married man that loves ttrpgs, fat women, vtubing, and public service 💀🤙

You're not Punk (and I'm telling EVERYONE!)
@BeyondGraves @GraveyardKing44 Lmao. Yeah man, my wife got me the box set like 10 years ago and we watch parts 1-5 like every October. Honestly can't handle much past that, it's too idiotic. That said I was a HUGE fan of the F13: The Game. Got heavily involved in the community and got to know the devs.
