🆕 Ryujin Nasukawa may already have entered Jonathan Di Bella’s orbit after making a statement on his ONE Championship debut. The 20-year-old younger brother of Japanese icon Tenshin Nasukawa stopped Thongpoon PK Saenchai in the second round at The Inner Circle 23, earning a 350,000 baht performance bonus at Lumpinee Stadium. His arrival will no doubt have caught the eye of strawweight kickboxing king Di Bella, who identified Ryujin as a potential future challenger when the Bangkok Post spoke to him earlier this month. “I see a lot of good fighters coming out of Japan,” Di Bella said. “Hopefully all the champions come and the best of the best are in ONE Championship.” Ryujin did not call out the champion after his victory, but has already made clear that he wants to pursue ONE titles at strawweight and atomweight. The two-division RISE champion must first return to Japan for a world-title rematch with Kazuki Osaki on September 19. Beyond that, he would welcome another fight in Thailand at Lumpinee, a place on ONE’s new monthly Samurai series back home – or even an appearance in Qatar. Ryujin also believes he can lead Japanese kickboxing into a new era following the retirements of Tenshin and Takeru. “The era of kickboxing built by Tenshin and Takeru has come to an end, and I believe I am the one who will lead the next era,” he said. After his debut victory, Ryujin issued another warning: “This is nowhere near all I have.” Full story @BangkokPostNews (🔗 in comments 👇) #ONEChampionship

🆕 Takeru Segawa has emphatically ruled out a ONE Championship rematch with Rodtang Jitmuangnon – despite their surprise reunion inside the ring at Lumpinee Stadium. The retired Japanese star was at The Inner Circle 22 to corner teammate Yuki Yoza, but also joined commentator Mitch Chilson for an in-ring interview. Takeru praised the ONE Samurai series and then offered an intriguing hint over his own future. “Fighting is the meaning of my life,” he said, via translator. “Maybe it’s preparation that one day I might make a comeback.” When Chilson pointed out that Rodtang was sitting ringside, Takeru called him into the ring. The former rivals embraced before Takeru told him: “I hope you come back strong. I can’t wait for your next fight.” Rodtang replied: “The day I come back, I wish there is maybe a small opportunity that I can do a rematch with you.” But when the Bangkok Post caught up with Takeru backstage and asked whether he would face Rodtang again, he smiled and answered emphatically: “No!” He gave the same response when asked if he was coming out of retirement, while Yoza also laughed off the rematch idea. That fight therefore appears extremely unlikely. Rodtang’s presence at a ONE event may be the more significant development. His relationship with the promotion collapsed into a public legal dispute earlier this year, with proceedings still ongoing in Thailand, Singapore and Japan. But senior figures at Jitmuangnon Gym have been exploring a path towards reconciliation, while ONE chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong recently described Rodtang as “a really good kid” with “a very good heart”. Sources told the Bangkok Post that nothing has yet been agreed regarding Rodtang’s return to ONE. Still, his invitation back into the ring at Lumpinee may represent another small step towards repairing the relationship.
