Something I am taking away from class is that reading and analyzing can help us learn more things that we anticiapatrc never to know. I love the readings.#369hong

As I finish reading southland I learned most of the things that we take for granted but now realize.searching for the past stories made her realize the impacts in her family lives. Where we can see at the end that Revoyr’s is more concerned with race and sexual identity.#369hong

@JohnMichaelPel9 @Jacquel77002196 I agree with both of you, Jackie never knew the past had affected her and her family so deeply, nor did she think that this journey would end up making her more open and helping her move forward #369hong

One of the important lessons I’ve gained from Revoyr’s Southland was certainly about life not being all linear. It’s a reminder that our past certainly has an affect on us, while we move forward. Jackie’s shift in realizing this was certainly refreshing to note. #369hong

Where I understand her feeling and emotions of wanting to know what was the hidden from her. Even though it may be horrifying, she still deserves to know her tradition and past.Where “watts” was a horrible history connected to her family.Hidden from her from her family. #369hong

As I keep reading southland we can see that Revoyr’s language shows how Jackie is unable to understand the friendship among interracial people.Leaving one to believe it’s unrealistic.Jackie seems as though she deserves to know how her ancestors were and past connections.#369hong

South land by Revoyr’s is one of the most facinating book I have read. It seems Jackie our main character has every American dream come true in there lives. Where she also makes it clear that Japanese American families in the district still have preserved old traditions.#369hong

@Jacquel77002196 I agree with you Jacqueline. It seems as though Jackie rediscovers a time and place in recent history of LA. Where racial diversity and ethic harmony is accepted. South land shows us a dream that is ever lasting even with the background that you posses. #369hong

In Southland, Jackie’s Dilemma is clear in the novel in the beginning especially. I noticed the detour portion in the beginning of the chapter. We see how Jackie is one to keep pushing, despite what’s happened before and in the present. #369hong

@kelvinyqc I agree with you Kelvin. It seems as though Lahiri showed us both point of view from what a parent always try to teach us to what we fail to realize before it’s too late. #369hong

I think it is meaningful by the end of the book, it commits to embracing western culture more. Ashoke considers Pemberton Road to be home, Moushumi and Gogol doesn't upkeep the arranged marriage, and Gogol appreciates his parents journey but is content in the west. (1) #369hong

As I finished reading the book by Jhumpa Lahiri’s I was very overwhelmed by the ending. He recalled what it was like to be a parent, have travel to find this journey for there family. Love the way Lahiri’s is Demonstrating changes in the point in view throughout the novel #369hong

@kelvinyqc I agree with you Kelvin. It seems as though Gogol’s is a resemblance of kids now a days who takes thing for granted and don’t even have the chance to embrace our culture. Where the parents wisdom flows.Once u learn what they have done to have you in this world, You learn.#369hong

Ch5-9 was quite a roller coaster. Continuing off Gogol's seemingly unrestricted freedom and embrace of American Culture, it seems like he doubled down on it when he started dating Maxine. I also think my observation last week that traveling vast distances leads... (1) #369hong

Making him realize that his fathers hardship is what causes him to have a name “Gogol”. Where his adolescence is all about fun he missed some stories that could describes him for who he is and why he is named that. #369hong

As we continue reading Lahiri’s book “The Namesake” seems to be a part of showing us the expectancy from our parents. Where one child hates the name that is given, which is not even something that can distinguish his race.Where he learns his fathers story toward his name. #369hong

My reality show would be in the love is blind. Where the concept of two partner never seeing each other face to face and gaveling a conversation with once personality. It is a show that has given people there true love #369hong

@DAndreMatos1 I agree guys but this could be lahiri’s way of showing the viewers how the character is portrayed to find himself in the act of learning how his culture works. #369hong

Leaving to wonder what was Lahiri’s representation of this novel. She is showing us to imagine beyond the book. Gago fails to realize the emotion of Ashoke’s desire. Leads us to believe that where Lahiri showed what the culture expects. Where Sonia shadows lehiri’s view.#369hong

The novel Namesake was very intriguing. Being born in Nepali culture, we were taught to be a disciplined kid as well. Demonstrated in the novel Where Gago shows us how he was able to enjoy the travel, see Calcutta, taj mahal. He also had to be disciplined and respectful.#369hong
