Karnataka is NOT solely an amalgamation of Kannada-speaking regions. Kannada is the mother tongue of only 66% of the population. The rest of the people speak different languages as their mother tongue. 1. Tulu: Spoken by around 1.85 million people, primarily in the coastal regions of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. 2. Konkani: Predominantly spoken in the coastal areas, especially in Uttara Kannada district. 3. Urdu: A significant language in urban areas like Bangalore, Bidar, and Gulbarga. 4. Kodava Takk: Spoken by the Kodava community in the Coorg (Kodagu) region. 6. Telugu: Spoken mainly in border districts such as Ballari and Kolar. 7. Marathi: Spoken in the northern districts bordering Maharashtra, like Belagavi. 8. Beary Bashe: Spoken by the Beary Muslim community in the coastal regions. Kannada is to Karnataka what Hindi is to India. Don’t overdo your 'learn our language while you're on our land' rhetoric. It will come back to bite you.
