@juliarturc @DouthatNYT Douthat is one of my favorite writers. His book about decadence is fun, but his religious writing is the best. It takes an interesting mind to be NYT’s religious right columnist for decades.

Finally watched the Peter Thiel interview just to understand the memes.
I thought @DouthatNYT was brilliant. I found myself watching just to hear his next question or rebuttal. I’m not religious but I might read his books just because he seems like a great thinker.
Is that an unpopular opinion? Have I just been listening to too many amateur podcasts and now I’m fan-girl’ing over the first real journalist I encounter in a while?

When I was a teen, my dad would drive us to this black-iron type gym in a nearby city.
Huge guys, ex-cons, and the rap was so loud he would put toilet paper in his ears as earplugs.
Owner let him in free, just for the spectacle of an old white guy dipping with 90lbs, etc.

the gym is maybe the one place u actually DONT want to segregate certain demographics. If ur serious about training hard u need to surround urself with total freaks not rich dudes. I’d rather be lifting next to a convicted felon with face tattoos than f*cking Bryan Johnson types

The worst thing to happen to NYC pedestrians since the car is the legal arbitrage that allows e-bikes in the bike lane. This is what Amazon drivers use in the bike lane. THIS IS A CAR. But at least when I get run over by a doordash driver on an Olto(TM), it will look ~aesthetic~

Abs and chiseled jawlines are actually symptoms of malnutrition. They’ve become attractive because most humans have been malnourished throughout history, and we grow attached to what we see as children. This will change in the era of abundance that began in 2009.
