Ever seen a student’s artwork exhibited in a major museum? Hephzibah F. (Year 12) is a finalist in the Lester Prize Youth Awards, selected from 280 entries nationwide. Her portrait is now on display at WA Museum Boola Bardip, with few Victorian students represented.

You never know who you’ll meet at a Poland shule. During the holidays in Łódź, Jeremy met Yaakov (Class of 2017), now living a Chassidic life and supporting a small Jewish community. A chance conversation became a meaningful Bialik connection, proof it is never far away.

Some stories are rarely given the microphone. At our ANZAC Day assembly, students from Years 2 to 12 honoured service while focusing on Women in Service, bringing forward voices often overlooked and shaping how the next generation understands courage and responsibility.

After watching this, you might want to scrap your dinner plans. For Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israeli chefs Eitam and Elihay brought real shawarma to the Piazza, cooking fresh for Bialik students and staff and giving our kids a true taste of Israel.

Not Israel, but it still felt like home 🇮🇱 Music, dancing, blue and white everywhere. Students celebrating, questioning and connecting to something bigger. Yom Ha’atzmaut at Bialik is not just a moment, it is how Jewish identity grows, here in Melbourne, together, beyachad.

When a child steps onto a bigger stage, something shifts. At Bialik, students connect learning to real Jewish life. At In One Voice, Years 3–5 performed Hebrew songs, then reflected on J-Air. Confidence, teamwork and belonging came to life beyond the classroom.

5am starts. Cold water. No shortcuts. Our primary swimmers hit the pool with determination, earning personal bests and showing true sportsmanship. One standout moment: a butterfly win and a place at regionals. At Bialik, resilience is built early, and it shows.

“We’d be great at lip reading.” They weren’t. Year 9 stepped into the Deaf community - learning Auslan, asking real questions, and discovering how small changes create inclusion. At Bialik, students don’t just learn about empathy. They live it.

A Year 7 student asked a surprising Pesach question. If the Israelites were free, why did they want to return to Egypt? In this conversation with Principal Jeremy Stowe-Lindner, one idea emerges. Freedom is not just physical. It is also a mindset that takes time to learn.

“I don’t know how to cook” just expired. Year 9 didn’t just learn about the shtetl - they lived it. Kneading, boiling, baking bagels from scratch, and discovering how Jewish history feels when it’s in your hands. At Bialik, learning isn’t remembered. It’s lived.

They won’t just sit at your Pesach Seder… they’ll lead it. At Bialik, students grow from learning the Jewish story to living it, building the confidence, connection and identity that turns Pesach into something they don’t just attend, but truly belong to.

“It’s just a school canteen”… until it shapes how your child eats, feels and belongs. For 17 years, Debbie Poratt turned The Shuk into a model of fresh, nourishing food in a Jewish school. That legacy lives on in every student. Thank you, Deb 💙

A Year 7 student asked a powerful question about the Pesach story. If God has all the power, why respond to Moshe? In this conversation with Principal Jeremy Stowe-Lindner, one idea stands out. Judaism is not just about belief. It is about the choices we make.
