The Biblical doctrine of eternal, conscious punishment of unbelievers is a test-point as to whether you have denied yourself, taken up your cross, and begun to follow Jesus. "This seems wrong to me" is a thought of no power to crucified disciple, whose conscience is captive to the word of God. To him, the fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge, not a co-competitor with his own feelings and judgments.

Dune (1984) gets written off, even by Lynch, but the film’s worldbuilding is doing its own thing. Baroque sets, strange textures, and a future that feels alien in a way few sci-fi films even attempt. It’s rough, but there’s nothing else like it.

@RosarioCicero3 Oh, thank you. Now I see. In the Bible, pastor and elder are interchangeable names for the same office. It is some people in the congregation who initially agree with what the Bible says a pastor is supposed to do, and then react in horror when he actually does it.
