@MartinSLewis Something wrong with this full stop! Why should people in work have to claim benefits??? Wages should be such that this isn’t necessary. Firm pays low wages so Employee claims benefits from the state Ergo Government is subsidising employers!!!

I'm seeing some misunderstanding the benefits debate as if it were workers v unemployed. Roughly 40% of those who receive Universal Credit get them as in-work benefits to top up low incomes. Many others too have disabilities or mental health problems making work difficult.

Many asking me "what happens to those who have fixed their tariff if their is a policy to freeze energy prices?" I just can't answer. The freeze prices policy is just a rumour. We don't know if it is for all, or just vulnerable. I'll of course push for fairness if it happens

I can't see the Chancellor can avoid making further energy interventions on 23 March Spring Statement. It is a genuine domestic poverty crisis. He has little choice both morally and politically.
