What a strange vibe at the track. I’m having trouble putting into words. It’s like oddly subdued. If the format wasn’t already changing, I’d feel outrage and anger. But it is changing. It just didn’t change soon enough. I feel bad for Zilisch. But at the same time, I also feel bad for Love. Because the reaction to the format is not fair to him after he had the performance of his life. He shouldn’t have to apologize for it or defend it. The fact a championship could be accompanied by such a numb feeling is obviously another sign the system needs to change. But again, it already is. Last night was a crisis averted for NASCAR with Corey Heim winning, particularly the way he did it. People around the garage felt relief today. Tonight, NASCAR’s luck ran out.

@ClaireBLang The wording of this for 2026 rules included a lot ‘playoffs’ and ‘championship race’. Is this indicating after two years of serious discussion, the playoffs are back in the same capacity next year?
