@BigCuz718 @TheBrooklynLife You misunderstood OP. Hot 97 wasn’t primarily a hip hop station until around 1992 or so, before then it was a dance music station that played some hip hop. Funk Master Flex was there before the transition and used to talk about it every once in a while.

Do y’all remember the early stages of Hot 97 from 1993-2001ish when you mostly heard New York artists??? And if you heard anybody else from outside NYC, it’s only because that song got huge??? Miss those times.
