@CloutStrife1st For newer dungeons I run trusts 1) as I like the dialog of the npc's, 2) i can pace out my progression and get a feel for the enemies and not rush to learn mechanics, and 3) don't have to fight rolls on gear the first time.

@ButchX3 As a vet wow player, the fan fest looked dope. I downloaded but I’m hesitant because of how I know mmos work and how I PLAY mmos lol. Especially running a CE guild on wow, but eventually I’m for sure going to play. Community looks awesome. Enjoy the game!

Playing FFXIV for the 1st time: Loaded into the 'real world' (after tutorial) and was greeted by a huge number of people. I thought they were NPCs, turns out they were real players welcoming me into the game! Literally nearly cried. I love this community so much already 🌱

@WhiteMochaVt A few weeks is crazy, but normally it's unwritten that a week should give people who don't have the time to immediately get into the MSQ time to handle their irl responsibilities (work, school, family, etc.) and find the time to dig into it.

@chewybuddy Every gaming community has it's nice side and it's bad actors. Personally I've always had either mundane or nice interactions with the community, but your interactions can vary wildly, and most of the time it can boil down to what world you're on.

crazy that ff14 was the Nice community game until dawntrail came out and a third of the community came out as the fourth reich. And the positivity isn't even real either

@Drexxel1996 @ZletanFFXIV I'm talking about the subjective take that the "story is shit" not personal preference. 10 hours of playing just MSQ (~4% of total game time of the entire game play at minimum) is no bar to say the entire story is trash. If it didn't connect with you then that's a valid opinion.

If you ever want to prove that FF doesn't have the best community, just say you want to skip the story and you didn't like DT narrative that much and watch them foam at the mouth as they tell you that FF isn't for you and you shouldn't play. Wild.

@mari_mitama You can still do the dungeons if you skip the story, and yes they do teach you (at the least) the base fundamentals such as the different markers and boss tells, which gives a base knowledge to reactively understand and learn endgame fights.

does skipping the story to do endgame actually make you a bad player? I don't know how many fundamentals you actually learn from doing leveling dungeons from lvl 16 to 91

@MiyaMewrilee No knock to you or anyone specific, but authenticity matters more than clout chasing, which is what a lot of XIV "content creators" do. Criticism is good, just be honest and people will respect that which is how it is with all things, not just games. And ignore the vocal minority

I'm kind of scared to get back in to FFXIV as a content creator. I'm not the same person I was back then and not sure if the new 'me' will be what people want. I'm not going to be a people pleaser and just smile like everything is perfect, because nothing is. I was super hurt once by many when I was a creator for FFXIV... Will it happen again? No. Because this time I don't want to please everyone, I want to bring my own vibe that is a choice to stay around or not. If people want to blur the lines of anything I say then they are just not my vibe, No one is going to bring me down. I'll set an example you can be yourself no matter what 🤘

@Jasott @MaeboTofu Dawntrail is transitional story, not filler. People don't get that the totality of the expansion is base DT + patches, which is the preamble for the next arc to come. That's like telling people to skip The Two Towers and go straight to Return of the King right after Fellowship.

@MaeboTofu People are being told to skip the story of Dawntrail, as the devs quietly admitted it's now filler. The new "starting point" isn't important, as 8.0 will be the start of the "Godless Realms Saga".

@Drexxel1996 @ZletanFFXIV Devil's advocate: saying you don't like the writing of the story after playing a fraction of the story at the beginning means you don't have a valid opinion of the story. Saying you don't care for the story is at least an honest opinion and not a bad faith take.

@ZletanFFXIV The main story is a massive timesink before getting to the endgame content so if you dont like the writing of the main story its hundreds of hours blocking you from the part you want to play if you dont buy a boost

I like to call those people the vocal minority of FF. If they can’t admit DT on release was at least sorta garbage their opinion can’t be taken seriously. I don’t like that people feel almost compelled to buy skips now. It’s just a ton of content for someone new trying to get into. Or trying to play with a friend. I don’t know what the solve/answer is though.

@mr_layman_3 @GekoGpose He dies love the game, but he also has a job to tell a story and deliver on it. DT is a transition expansion, and along with the patches is setting up for 8.0. Too many people just see the base expansion as the whole but taken together with the patches you see the direction.
