I’m convinced we could pay off our entire national debt by doing 3 simple things: 1. Ban all non-citizens from welfare programs 2. Strict, enforceable work requirement for EBT/SNAP/Section 8 3. Mass prosecute welfare fraud with federal prison time for stealing from taxpayers

Just an anecdote but I think it’s indicative of a broader trend. I just posted a job opening last week for a fresh college graduate / 1-2 years experience for an operations analyst. It’s a very good beginner role as people who have had this in the past have got promotions and moved on to better jobs in my company. In the past only new graduates applied. This time I’m getting applicants with 10 years experience in industry. All this for a job that pays $60-65,000 a year which is way below what these applicants would typically make. The reality of the job market is way worse than the date indicates.

Trump just crushed the H1B visa program. Great news for those seeking a job, especially in tech. Bad news for real estate investors in cities like Dallas. This could trigger an abrupt decline in demand along with a surge in listings. A substantial housing price correction could follow.

Trump just killed the H1B visa. Companies now have to pay $100K per year to bring foreign hi-skilled workers to the U.S. This will dissuade them from doing so, some jobs will be offshored. For Indian techies, the American dream just got killed.
