@JEChalmers Can we claim back from all of those businesses that never provided an alternative payment method but still charged the fee?

BREAKING: Australians will no longer pay $1.6bn in card surcharges from October 1.
People shouldn’t be punished for using a credit or debit card.
That's why the Reserve Bank will today take steps to end credit and debit card surcharging from October 1.
This change will make a meaningful difference with Australians no longer paying $1.6 bn a year in surcharges, and small businesses will save $910m.

@FOXFOOTY Been a tough few years by the looks of it. Could easily pass for 56.

@hughriminton @10NewsAU Should be removed altogether forever. GST is enough tax if the government spend our money wisely.

Port Adelaide chairman David Koch has told 7NEWS he will not be lifting the ban on the term 'rebuild' anytime soon. Despite losing to both West Coast and North Melbourne in the first three weeks, Koch insists finals footy is still the pass mark this season. @joshmoney__ @7AFL

@alleria_eh What an uniformed and poorly researched post this is.
1 cheek swab, once for people wanting to compete in female categories of Olympic & some non-Olympic elite sports. This is not the life of a lab rat.
Elite female athletes are overwhelmingly in favour of this.

@DrHoenderkamp You arent the one having to do it.
English

@grumplesgrove @nyaraVT You FR don't understand basic biology. Pubescent changes are not fully reversible with hormone therapy and some of these provide advantages to trained athletes born male vs born female.
English

@nyaraVT Fr they don't understand how much your muscles shrink from hrt it's crazy
English

@CriticalDragon1 @nyaraVT The weakness that makes transwomen unsuitable for military service is related to psychology, not physicality. Military personnel are required to make rapid, logical decisions based on presenting facts. A simple concept really.
English

@nyaraVT Yet simultaneously transwomen are too weak for the military while regular cisgender women are not according to the same people
English

@JeremyVineOn5 @sharrond62 @theJeremyVine The fact that this is a debate that keeps popping up in modern society is worth scientific study. I'd title it 'The Devolution of Mankind: Why, after 100,000 years is man driven to deny basic biology?'
English

"This isn't about keeping anyone out of sport."
"This is about fundamental fairness for 50% of the world's population who are biologically female."
@sharrond62 says banning trans women from female events is about equity not exclusion.

@salltweets AHRC will have as much say in who is eligible to complete at the Games in Brisbane 2032 as they will in who completes at the LA Games in 2028; none. IOC Games, IOC rules.
English

@cheeseatnight @jon_wertheim @Martina Transphobia is a term made-up by people who can't accept themselves for who they are in an attempt to shame others who refuse to accept their delusion.
English

Agree or disagree, Coventry’s statement - literally word-for-word - echoes
what @Martina has been saying for a decade or so….
Ross Tucker@Scienceofsport
A giant leap forward for women’s sport. They’ve done the right thing with a strong, clear policy. No equivocation, no tap-dancing, no pretence of “balancing priorities.” Plus, a means to test for eligibility. Those responsible (this time) deserve real congratulations. More later
