0 for 3! Also — notice how none of the ideas involve shortening the season which is partly how we fell into this tanking sinkhole in the first place. They come up with 3 “solutions” and none of the 3 are “what would 72 games look like?” This league is so frustrating

The NBA presented three comprehensive anti-tanking concepts to its Board of Governors on Wednesday, with modifications expected to each before a formal vote in May, per ESPN sources. 1. 18 teams in draft lottery (seeds 7-15 in each conference) – flattened odds, with bottom 10 teams having an 8% chance, the remaining 20% odds distributed in decreasing order for 11 through 18, and and a lottery drawing for all 18 picks. 2) 22 teams in lottery using 2-year record (seeds 7-15, plus the four playoff first round exits in both conferences). Lottery teams would reach a minimum win total floor in each season, such as 25 wins. If a team falls short of the floor, it gets slotted to meet the floor. Top 4 drawn as part of lottery, as is currently. 3) 18 teams in a "5 by 5" lottery – bottom 5 teams have equal odds for the top pick, with lottery formed for picks 1-5. Bottom 5 teams have a floor at 10; those that fall out of top 5 get sorted in a separate drawing.

Undocumented immigrants are ineligible to receive benefits like Social Security, SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare, or ACA all while paying $100 billion into those systems a year. Billionaires are responsible for 99% of that massive fraud, responsible for a $696 billion tax gap with the hundreds of billions in corporate-level improper payments, we're talking $1 trillion in annual lost or stolen revenue. Individual welfare fraud represents less than 1% of that. You're mad at the wrong people.

@ShamsCharania It’s over complicating things the lotto is between the bottom 6-8 teams the worst team gets a 25% chance at the top pick the other5-7 get lower odds you can’t get tanking completely out it happens in every sport. It happens most in basketball because more teams have a chance

A 2% annual tax on that wealth would cover all of what we currently spend on Medicare without anyone else paying a dime. And that wealth would still continue to grow. We can't afford not to tax them at this point.

Single payer COULD cut cost and improve care but there are 2 fundamental issues. 1. All plans proposed have placed the Sec of HHS in charge of the program. You can't have a political appointee in that position and it's hard to de-politiicize HC in this country 2. They assume that they can get providers and specialists to accept whatever rates they set. You are talking about organizations that in most cases, don't even know their costs. Why ? They don't want to know their costs. For lots of reasons to long to dig into here Proponents of M4A have to first get hospitals to the point where they can define all their costs and do a Bill of Materials for procedures. You can't negotiate a price for all Americans if you don't know what your costs are It's Shark Tank 101. So we get a stalemate. Politicians don't do the work needed. Hospitals and providers avoid the work needed Other countries started on their path to universal care decades and decades ago. When healthcare was much simpler technically and fiscally. If senators won't support the Break Up Big Medicine Bill or anything comparable , there is no chance of getting to single payer. Our politicians don't have the backbone to do what is needed. You can call out all but Hawley and warren. No one else has uttered a syllable in support

Every dollar earned below $184,500 a year has a Social Security tax of 12.4%. Everything after that cap is exempt. If we lift this cap on the wealthiest earners, Social Security would be fully funded till 2070. The cap should not exist.

Librarian jobs are *notoriously* difficult to get and almost always require extensive graduate work (like, masters degree barely minimum) to even be considered. Paying them $55k is straight up poverty wages considering the amount of debt they take on to just get in the door.
