What this image brings to my mind is Ancient Greek civilization, the Aegean Sea, Byzantium, and Christianity. The famous painting The Birth of Venus is associated with the island of Cyprus in mythology, although today part of Cyprus is occupied by Turkey.

Every time I post about 1453 I get a bunch of the same replies automatically trying to change the topic to 1204. Over the years it’s crazy how predictable and reliably formulaic these nationalist responses are. It’s always 1453->1204. Or Turkey is criticized so talk about Greece.
