What I care about is making sure Lamont is re-elected and the rest of the state level government stays blue. And I'm not at all worried about that not coming to pass, here in the land of steady habits.

I honestly do not give two damp shits about most of the races. It's a given that the GOP will take the house, maybe the senate too. This will lead to 2 yrs of gridlock, which will be rightly blamed on the GOP and control will flip again in 2024.

But it's still difficult to accept that she's going to be gone soon and I may not be able to see her again in time.

Her time is running out and it is killing me that I'm not able to go down to Florida immediately to be with her. I respect and understand her decision to not battle her way through this. I don't know if I would have the fight in me to battle cancer in my late 70's either.

My mom is very close to passing away. She went into the hospital for one issue and while she was there it was discovered that she had very advanced lung cancer. She refused treatment, checked out of the hospital and went home.
