I’ve defended Amorim all season and I believe for good reason. From day one, it was clear he understood the core issues that have plagued this club in recent years. He’s been actively addressing them and it was genuinely refreshing to see how well-informed he’s been about the situation. But let’s be clear: this season has to be a major step up from the last. I fully support him as he takes on the toxic culture, player power and everything else behind the scenes. That said, the performances on the pitch must be on a completely different level. He has now Cunha, Mbeumo, Amad, Yoro, Bruno, Mainoo, Heaven, Zirkzee, De Ligt, Martinez, Dorgu, Mazraoui and potentially three more coming in. We’re not talking about a squad that needs genius-level coaching just to scrape wins. These are all talented players. He needs to find the formula to make things click. Last season’s level should never happen again. Not in a million years! And I’m sure Amorim knows that better than anyone else.
