I grew up singing "Only a boy named David." I had the children's Bible & learned all the stories in Sunday School.
Just a few years ago I led a study through 1 & 2 Samuel, chapter by chapter. It was stunning.
David's story looks really different when de-disneyfied.

It is hard to hope for the redemption of all things. It is hard to believe God will put everything to right. So please, away with the cliches that make no space for the mourner to lament that things are very much not okay in the here & now. Jesus would weep with those who weep.

THIS. This is why I take such issue with the “Jesus is still on the throne” posts. They are dismissive of real human struggle. I believe God is sovereign. And I also believe he allows unfathomable amounts of suffering on this earth, so much so that I question his goodness. +

This almost certainly won’t be a priority for the new administration, but it should. The “bans” taking affect in some states right now (good!) are actually p*rn states refusing to comply with age verification rules. This is a destructive industry and it needs to die.
