Heavenly Birthday MacArthur Lane (1942-2019) The Oakland, CA native was the Cardinals' top draft pick in 1968 out of Utah State. Lane had a breakout Pro Bowl season in 1970 after gaining over 1,300 total yards and leading the league with 13 touchdowns. #BigRed1970s

BOTD 1937: Pro Bowl defensive end Joe Robb, who was one of the Cardinals' best pass rushers in the 1960s. Robb was a 2nd-team All-Pro in 1966 and played in STL from 1961-1967. He passed away at the early age of 50 in 1987. #BigRed1960s

Happy birthday, Stump Mitchell! @StumpCoach had his best season in 1985 when he gained more than 1500 scrimmage yards and scored 10 TDs in only 8 starts. He is still the franchise's 2nd All-time leading rusher, behind OJ Anderson. 📷 JB Forbes #BigRed1980s

Heavenly Birthday to former Big Red All-Pro guard Ken Gray, who played in 6 Pro Bowls during his 12 seasons with the Cardinals. Gray and Jerry Kramer were both drafted by the Packers in 1958. The Packers kept the future Hall of Famer while Gray signed with the #ChicagoCards.

This Big Red cheerleader was very happy about the Cardinals 24-14 win over the Eagles in 1980. It was head coach Jim Hanifan’s first NFL victory. 📷 JB Forbes

@KnoxvilleRwy I did some research on this a couple of years ago and found no evidence that he had accepted the Alabama job before leaving the Cardinals. And the way he was fired in Arizona was a disgrace.

@BigRed_STL My recollection was that Bidwill fired him partway through his last season because he already accepted the Alabama head coach job. Stallings had to deal with a bad replacement team during the ‘87 strike and an overall lack of talent on the roster.

Happy birthday, Gene Stallings! The Texas native coached the Cardinals from 1986 to 1989, compiling a record of 23 wins, 34 losses, and 1 tie. In 1987, he led the Big Red to within a game of the playoffs. He later went on to win a National Championship at Alabama in 1992.
