We don’t know the whole story… but I do know that zero tolerance is not serving the victims that are bullied nor the bully. “If this is the case”. We can’t know the details but I won’t judge a parent for doing what I am capable of doing under specific circumstances. I can become a grizzly bear and my husband can too if pushed in to a corner to protect my child as well. I see “BOTH parents” show up seated and calm with an intention to discuss and to advocate for their child. (I don’t know if their child has been bullied for months) And a patronizing female school cop that is really just a glorified HR rep hired to protect the school from liability, not the kids. This meeting is insulting in of itself. Where is the principal who is responsible for the safety of the children ? That would have been an appropriate meeting but I’m sure the principal had a good reason to avoid this family due to poor supervision and those liability concerns. I would bet the parents have a darn good reason to want to passionately address some educators and staff for allowing this to happen at a degree that lands their child in court. Government schools everywhere are NOT doing a good job protecting children and the family unit. That said- Without all the details, I will trust the parents 1st and easily forgive a caring parent for becoming aggressive with a failed system that failed children before I forgive a female cop for recklessly, replacing a principal to meet the parents and clearly has ridiculous conversation boundaries and zero ability to de-escalate an obvious ongoing crisis with CHILDREN.
